Some girls go over the top with makeup and I don't like that but nicely done it looks nice.
Men want girls to naturally look like supermodels without makeup on, but we settle for makeup because it's hard to find the impossible

Most guys like a bit of makeup on girls, just not so much and artfully done. Depending on the girl, I would probably prefer the idea of "less is more".

It's not that men don't like makeup.
We just also like a woman to look natural. Not like a clown.
But what's most important is that a) she takes care of her appearance and b) feels beautiful.

I can't speak for most guys but me myself, I'm not a big fan of make-up. Au-natural is the way for me.

If face didn't matter then women wouldn't be putting on colored cosmetics and jewelry to enhance the face for thousands of years.
Face matters. And obviously people find their partners facially attractive. But most guys date average looking girls. Many girls have nice bodies. I have mainly male friends and only brothers. Most will take an okay face but sexy body before a average or below average body with a stunning face. Sorry to burst your bubble
