Well, those culotte pants do look comfortable & aesthetically-pleasing as well. And the trousers in the 1st picture look a lot like the similarly-comfortable (& formal) 袴 ("hakama") of Japan, specifically, the 馬乗袴 ("umanori hakama";「horse-riding hakama」 ).
I have worn those trousers, and they are truly nice & comfortable… though I did encounter some problems (like nearly bashing my front teeth in, while trying to climb-up a flight of stairs) until I learned the proper etiquette for stair-climbing.

At the moment, I see a lot of women wearing trousers with a very short inside leg, and elastic at the waist and hips. What are they called?
I made myself some wide above the knee culottes with a panel in front of it to wear when we went on rides during our vacation ! thanks
I think they're nice but they make me look shorter which I don't like since I'm already short.

The wife likes them, so they've grown on me.
They're modest yet feminine.I love those type of pants I have a couple pairs of them. :) super comfy.
Good choice. They're comfortable, and when you walk, there'll be wind, more comfortable.
Yes! They look super cute with black tights underneath with flats.
Nope coz they bring bad memories of when I was in girl guides.
The white and the black ones are nice. Not sure about the terra-cotta ones, though.
Is that what those are? I thought culottes were shorter. Those look awful, like somebody tried to make pants with some old curtains.
They look nice but aren't that flattering in my opinion
They are very light and comfy during a summer day and can match very good with many outfits
Really can't say I'm not a girl so to me there some thing I wouldn't think of till I just seen them
I have 5 of that kinda pants, love them!
