It looks like you're not the one cleaning up that mud - off of the floor or the upholstery. They can leave mud/dust tracks on your floors, get your carpets worn and dirty. Worst of all, they bring in germs, specially from public bathrooms.
In india that's a bit of a problem, since people see that as rude. But in my house, I generally have separate footwear to wear in the house and a separate one to wear outside
Most people here walk from the house to the car and then wherever. Theyre usually walking on concrete/roads... so its not much dirt going around but i hear ya
Yea well I've been around 25 years and its never been a prob. I dont know anyone in my city whos ever required it but im sure there's a few somewhere out there
Idc if guests wear shoes in my house unless their shoes r hella muddy. They can use the doormat tho. Talking about pet, i have a pet rabbit so it's clean lol.
Probably? In my country we don't have the habit of taking off our shoes, but we must respect those who have that custom. That is very common in eastern countries.
Taking the Shoes off is very normal in Scandinavian Countrys and Japan. I personal dont really care, wear Shoes or take them off your decision, if my floor gets dirty I clean it up is not the end of the World.
Nobody in my family wears shoes in the house, and my girlfriend usually takes hers off once she gets inside. As for my dog, when it's wet or muddy outside we just wipe off her feet before she comes inside.

Yes and no! If it's winter so it's a no. In The summer, no problem, there is always a vacuum cleaner or a mop worst case scenario.
Yeai forgot about snow. We dont really get that here
Where do you live?
MS, USA
Oops, I accidentally voted NO! I hate when people make you take ur shoes off! My. Parents never make anyone take their shoes off!
Yea its silly
Honestly, I couldn’t agree more! I kinda understand if you have white carpet... but I cannot understand WHY anyone would ever get White carpet?
Lmao i said that below as well like who buys white carpet 🤣 its just waiting for drink to spill on it
RIGHT? It’s crazy! I mean, not only do I wonder why people buy white carpet, I don’t even understand why they MAKE white carpet?
Yes. It's a normal thing here. People who actually ask people to take off their shoes are quite damn rare here.
Same here

I really dislike it, it makes me cringe. I don’t want someone out door shoes who have been god knows where stepping all over the carpet
I would appreciate if they took their shoes off.. because you never know what germs they have walked into!

I prefer shoes off when you enter. But I also don't want anyone to get the idea that they can stay as long as they want, lol.
Yea shoes off and then they get too comfortable. Try to put they feet all up on your table lol
Exactly. Next thing you know, they're pouring their own drinks and won't leave. 🤣
Cultural reasons. Take off your god damn shoes while indoors you're tracking dirt in
Most people here walk from the house to the car and then wherever. Theyre usually walking on concrete/roads... so its not much dirt going around but i hear ya
Concrete isn't clean though there can be dirt even in a city that can get on your shoes and then into your house
Yea well I've been around 25 years and its never been a prob. I dont know anyone in my city whos ever required it but im sure there's a few somewhere out there
Where you from?
Mississippi
Ahh, the states, explains a lot lmao
No, I don't like that. But outside workers are allowed tho. Family and friends need to take off their shoes.
Whats yalls readon?
We don't want outside germs on our clean floors. We can't force workers to take their shoes off so as soon as they leave we mop with bleach.
I mean before this whole corona thing
Same reason
No shoes inside! Take em off or you're not coming in.
I dont want all the shit people step on outside to get all over my flooring.
I dont know where people there walk at but here its not an issue. We keep our kicks clean. We pay too much for em
lol, San Francisco is so dirty that they have a feces map... there's a city division of employees that pressure wash piss and shit off the streets
Oh hell nawl 🤣
this is what happens when they encourage homeless drug addicts to migrate here with promise of housing and hospitality.

I agree
Probably? In my country we don't have the habit of taking off our shoes, but we must respect those who have that custom. That is very common in eastern countries.
I respect cultures who do it. But i meant the ones who do it for noncultural purposes
I require people to. It's unsanitary to bring in shoes into the home. I've seen some people even sleep in their beds with their shoes on!
Amen!
Nah, I don't feel like sweeping and mopping more than I already have to 😬
Never been a prob here
No, because I take pride in keeping the place clean, and I don't want people tramping in dirt from outdoors.

Oh wow
Dirt and germs outside---> dirt on shoe soles---> Dirt inside
Boyfriend and I both take them off at the door
I can see both ways... But for those protecting the carpet they can get pretty anal... But I agree if their shoes are clean it should not be a problem
