Why do men on here prefer average girls more than conventionally attractive girls?

I’ve seen men on here rate average/plain looking girls a 10/10 and supermodels and conventionally attractive girls like a 5. That makes no sense, like why? Is it the difference between male and female gaze? Or is it them just simping for who’s more in their league? Or are they just against makeup?

Eg: the first girl displayed is clearly someone conventionally attractive, the majority of society would find her to be beautiful, of course not everyone but lots would. The second girl is someone who is average pretty (more girl next door), and lots of people first look would find the first girl way more attractive however, the second girl would clearly get more attention on here if she posted, why is that? And no hate to ether, they’re both pretty in their own way.

Supermodels and Instagram chicks don’t need more people telling them how attractive they are that’s the last thing they need. In fact most models and those Instagram girls are really stuck up and spoiled and shallow. (I’m not generalizing I’ve known and worked with plenty of models). Everything they have in life is handed to them by their looks, so besides that they’ve never achieved anything or had to face real hardships and or adversity. Not to mention they are also really insecure about themselves. Over all they are nightmares and I don’t play into that by stroking their egos and giving them extra attention. And I hope other men follow suit too soon because they wouldn’t have gotten anywhere in live if it weren’t for that.

also the non supermodel girls. I’m pretty sure they are rated more because they are more desirable and they can actually offer something to a guy that isn’t their bodies. Because when the looks fade they will have personality and other great qualities real men actually seek.

My theory would be they are hating on the one (s) they are actually more attracted to because they find them unattainable, and the less attractive one (s) they think they have a better chance with or think of them as more approachable so they rate them higher.

It's a theory based on what I have seen in real life of guys cutting down and insulting the prettier girls to try and find fault with them because they seem so perfect, and also the tendency of men to crowd up on the "5s" because they see them as easy to get because "they're less attractive so will be more desperate".

Just a theory, what do you think?

For several reasons.

1) many men falsely attribute their dislike for traits like insecurity, people pleasing, arrogance, etc. On makeup, clothing or appearance

2) many people hate mainstream things, given the false assumption that because it is mainstream it is somehow lesser in value than if you 'discovered it' before it was cool

3) it's easy to hate something you'll probably never get. Poor people hate rich people for not thinking about them, personally. Hate the system, people are still people.

I'm gonna get downvoted for this answer, but probably it's just sour grapes. People tend to adopt a negative attitude towards someone or something because they cannot have it themselves, as a defense mechanism.
They know they plus they associate the look of the first girl with Instagram or TikTok, which don't have the best reputation...

I don't know. The men on here have weird tastes. They don't like girls over 5'4", girls larger than a C cup, girls with any curves whatsoever, or girls over 130 lbs. I'm not like those guys, but to each their own, I guess.

Regarding why attractive girls look "less appealing." It's because in general, mist "conventionally attractive" girls tend to be stuck-up cunts. Their attitude sucks. But I guess when they're getting 10,000 likes a week from pathetic simps, an inflated ego swelled to the size of Jupiter would make sense for them. Attractive girls give off this stuck-up aura of arrogance about them.

Using that one picture you posted, I'd think "Yeah that girl's a solid 7.5 (cute/cute-ish), but she also looks like an arrogant bitch." Compare that to the second girl (who's also a 7, but without the excessive makeup, which puts her as "more beautiful" than the first girl), who is smiling and generally looks like a happy, sweet, kind woman who wouldn't tell you to "f*ck off" if you went up to her and said "Hi" and in fact, might be willing to even give you her number.

TL;DR: "Hot" girls come off arrogant, stuck-up, and entitled, while "cute, girl-next-door" girls come off friendly, kind, warm, and inviting. That raises their overall score, because a gorgeous-looking bitch is still a bitch.

in general I think there are multiple separate things

- if the girl appears obviously hot and is asking how she looks people assume she's fishing for compliments and resent it.
- if the girl is believably insecure but sort of cute people are happy to rush to her support.
- men really do tend to prefer girls that every other guy isn't as excited about to an extent women aren't. I have suspicions this is because for most of our evolution we needed to seek out an "available" womb, not share the same amazing woman with 20 other men.
- I would say most men like some makeup on real life. However the modern full "Instagram" style makeup is not loved by all men - it's pretty unnatural looking. If you then put filters over the top it starts looking like a drawing (because it is - it's just cgi) and it's not so unusual for men to find human women more attractive than cgi ones.
- finally when the makeup and filters are high, whether or not men like that look, they may not think they're getting a remotely accurate view of the person on the other end - like they could be anywhere between 12 and 50, male or female, etc. Tiny suggestions something is "wrong" will be seized on.

Second girl is more attractive.
1st reason: the first girl uses way to much makeup. That by itself is a huge negative point against any woman. Of s girl has to use that much makeup in order to be "attractive", then is not to begin with.
2nd: Compare both expressions. While the first is posing "to look pretty", the second one is naturally smiling, clearly enjoying what she is doing. That is a very attractive detail for men. It tells a lot about their respective personalities, and the second one is more appealing.
3rd: Somehow you covered partially this point, they being out of our league or not. The first does look like or of our league, that is true, but she also screams "and I wouldn't even look at you, you lowly worm, for I am a goddess". The second may very well be out of our league as well, as much or even more so than the other, but you don't get that give from her, like she would not judge anyone and could go out with any of us just because. It is a different aura, the first rejecting you and the second accepting you.
4th: Here is about personal tastes, but I bet it is a general consensus nowadays. Such an artificial girl is not as attractive anymore. More natural girls are seen as more attractive.

I really do not think that is a good example as both the women are very attractive. The real answer to your question is that most men on these websites would not have a chance in hell with a very attractive women so they go with the uglier of the two in hopes that they may get lucky with one a the few women on this website. They figure the women on this website have low self esteem so they compliment them in hopes of getting lucky, AKA they are not telling the truth because they know they do not have a chance with a model type and have to settle for what they can actually get.

Lets play a little make believe game. You have 100 women and 1 guy on the entire planet. They guy has to choose 1 women from only photos. The other 99 women will vanish without a trace after he chooses. He will choose the one that he finds the most attractive. He will not choose someone obese, he will not choose someone that is 4 foot tall, he will not choose someone that is deformed, he will not choose someone that looks like a man, he will not choose someone with a flat chest. He will choose the best looking women from the photos provided. Some guys will like bigger boobs or a bigger ass but all guys are going to want a women with a hourglass figure (Boobs and Ass are bigger then the waist). I do not know a single guy that would choose a women that is obese over a women that has an hour glass figure if they had a choice. I do know a lot of guys that would choose a obese women over nothing but they are the last choice on the list.

There will be a little difference in what a guy thinks is the most beautiful but the fact remains that he will pick the best looking women. If you want a true answer then post pictures of a good looking women and a average women. The picture you posted has 2 good looking women but the second one is actually prettier then the first, she has a natural beauty that really captivates you as the first one looks made up and fake.

As for me I say as is but I give explanation as in what attributes I saw while rating and number doesn't do justice so I tell them well in adavance it has no worth it's just nothing.

The reason why more average girls are prefered is not because men think they actually look better than girls like in the first picture. The reason behind this is because the hot girls out there are generally mischievous and often happen to bring a lot of headache to a man's life. Of course this is not absolute, but the odds of a man having such a girl on his hands are high. So as much as these are prejudices, they happen to often turn out to be true. The problem with "supermodels," is they're being propped up behind lighting effects, professional makeup, and often even photo enhancement. Most guys notice this, and so while most wouldn't deny they're hot in the picture, we have serious doubts to the point we'd bet money on the fact they don't normally look the way they do outside of the studio. You can look at most polls on here with large numbers of votes tallied and see a pretty consistent 65/35 proportionate inverse in votes between what the men and women consider attractive.

I've been friends with a woman who was a model during high school and college timeframe, and if using a 10pt scale she'd score a 9 or so in her work, she was actually more like a 6 maybe 7 in person. Girls choose to look glamorous to impress other girls. Most guys see through the superficiality and are only interested in what's under the mask. I've known grown women who refuse to let their husband's see them without a full face of makeup, even sleeping in it.

Most men prefer to keep things simple. If he wants to touch or kiss her, he doesn't want to worry she'll get upset that her makeup was damaged or make a mess on something else. Being able to run his fingers through her hair, rather than encountering a stiff, shellacked helmet, does wonders for drawing a guy closer. I would say that when someone sees someone who is a model or whatever, who has practiced her poses, she can be intimidating, but another person, like the second picture, is less intimidating with a candid shot. I think they actually look pretty similar. Lighting and makeup is an art that models master, not something that non models feel is necessary, because their job is not to make the best picture. Lighting and makeup can make someone appear more "conventionally attractive" compared to a candid shot of someone. I've studied lots of stuff on modeling, since I wanted to be one, and I think that a lot of it comes down to technique. Basically, less intimidating looking, more real looking pictures might make people see the person as more beautiful.

The reason I´d go for girl number two is the impression she leaves. While the first is undoubtable the more beautiful one she leaves a rather cold impression to me, the second girl on the other hand seems to be more positive minded and open in character two me. That´s what attracts me.

In reality, she probably looks about as attractive as the second girl when all that washes away.

I would think it is the make up, at least that is what I personally think is the main difference between the two girls you show there. The first just look more polished.
To me it does not speak confidence wearing so much make up; making the lips appear bigger and even-out little imperfections. She probably follow some current trends (I only know of the dark, filled-in brows), which girls are more into, most guys do not care shit what the newest fashion is.
