I read that it's better to wear them for special occasions (concerts, going out and such) but what do you guys think? Are they too much for occasional wear while going out to do some shopping or eating out?

What do you think of large hoop earrings? Are they trashy?
The things prostitutes and strippers were known for wearing back in my day are common and accepted now. Only thing that hasn't caught on is clear heels with a damned goldfish swimming around in the platform.
The fake nails, eye lashes, dark eye shadow, over drawn lipstick and eyeliner, glitter, dyed hair, implants, tattoos, hoop earrings, name plate necklaces with some dudes name on it...
But hey, you do you sis... but to normal people, you guys look like a dirty musty wash rag with all of that trash on. Imagine the money you'd save fixing your self esteem instead of trying to look like some whooooor...
Confessions of women whom had low self esteem? Its funny because what's pretty to YOU changes every ten years or so. Like I said above, everyone, even women KNEW what a stripper/prostitutes uniform was back in the day, yet here we are and that BS is mainstream and you kids think you own the trend now.
Those, in the picture, aren't large! I've seen MUCH bigger!! My dog could jump through them!! But, no, they don't look trashy. The trashy ones are the ones black chicks were wearing a decade or two ago where they were basically wearing HUGE name plates in their ears!!! Those and those STUPID fake gold ones that looked like huge Greek pillars!!! I swear to Buddha, they go out of their way to LOOK stupid!!!
Well that’s racist that’s apart of our culture it’s not ghetto and trashy. Just because you don’t like it don’t mean no one should wear them. How would you feel if some one said some of the things in your culture were trashy?

Black and African is not the same. We may look similar but it’s technically not the same. Ask any African they are not the same. Black generally refers to African American in America! We know who you’re referring to. And regardless of whom you married it’s still a bogus comment. Nothing about it is right. When I mentioned culture I meant culture of hip hop in America and what us as black girls used to wear. The fact that you said “black girls” denotes who you’re referring to. It is apart of how we have worn our style period. If it wasn’t you wouldn’t have just said it yourself. Clearly you have noticed us wearing it in the past. Black women have always been known to wear earring as you described. So yes what you said is offensive. Because I know and you know who wore those kinda earrings the most. Personally I never wore them never liked them but what you said was borderline racist. You called it stupid. Just because it’s not something you like doesn’t make it stupid. Other places around the world other cultures have a sense of style that probably wouldn’t be a norm or even look right in American eyes. But it’s wrong to say it’s stupid. You entitled to have your opinion but that comment is insensitive that’s what I’m trying to convey. Example in Native American culture they wear all types of different accessories it may not be my taste or even popular but what if I said it was stupid etc… this is just an example I’m merely just saying it’s insensitive and offensive.
G it’s not the same There’s a long history behind this. We have a similar linage with related ancestors and genetics are similar. Yes I’m not saying it isn’t. I’m simply saying African American culture is different than African culture. I think some girls pulled it off really well rather it’s small or big. When I was in high school, I used to love wearing them to look cool 😂 but as I adult, I stopped cuz my style changed and I feel like I have the type of face I can easily look like a baddie if I wanna with certain styles 😅 but it’s not the look I want.. or people will easily labeled me as an ABG haha. But lately, I did try to add new style with more stylish hoop earrings than the original since I like unique looks.
@bobalife Well, I did as an adult. But when I was growing up in my teen years (when most of the pop culture influence happens in a person's life), there weren't many Asians at all!
It depends on the outfit. I think large hoops can look good if place with the right outfit. So say, you are wearing something fairly plain or modest, a good hoop can really pop.
Here are the 3 things men hate the most, fake eyelashes (especially super long ones), fake hair, and those fake press-on claws. I don't mean press on nails in general, the super long claws that a lot of women are putting on. It makes a woman look ridiculous, like a clown. And if you have all 3, that's not even that person anymore, they are a caricature of a person they think they want to be. Point being, if a woman has too much fake stuff on, its a safe bet she's a fake all the way around.
They are sexy not classy. Usually i assume girls with a big hoop are slutty. Im not aware of any non slutty girls who wear them and every slutty girl i know wears them. The only exception is i told my girlfriend to wear them for me once when we went out.
I think some women pull them off really nicely! I don’t think they are trashy. If someone wants to make a statement with their earrings then you do you! One thing I love about them, is that a lot of women who are going through cancer treatments wear them to feel empowered (once they start going through chemo and lose their hair etc) My friends cousin did this. This purpose alone would make me love hoop earrings.
Don't care really. Probably wouldn't even notice a girl wearing them or not. It's one of those things i would put in The girl thinks it matter's more than it does to a guy Box. There will be weirdo's who are strongly ageist it for no reason tho and those who do find it attractive one man's trash is another man's treasure. But at a level headed approach it don't really matter.
Do you think they could go with some basic (jeans, tee, boots) outfit and a leather jacket? In my head it looks nice haha I'd also curl my hair a little. I love the slight vintage vibe. :)
I think hoops are cute! I've never viewed them as trashy. I think they can compliment some outfits very well. I've never really worn them myself cause I'm too afraid I'd get them hung on something.
You can make it trashy or not w the rest of your look! Overdone makeup and out of style clothing will make it tacky but these are accessories at the end of the day and can be styled to look trendy!!
"Confident, willing to stand out from the crowd" kind of vibe. I'm not being edgy or anything but most of the time I was the one who stood out for many reasons and now that I'm older I no longer mind it.
I don't think they are trashy, They are just earrings. I'm rather fond of them, to be honest, not entirely sure why, but I think they can look really fetching.
I LOVE hoop earrings. I ordered a pair of them but don't know when they're coming. I've always wanted a pair. I can't wait to start wearing them once I receive them

Pesonally I think I WOULD SAY GO FOR,, no bigger hoop than in picture2"... because visually looking larger ones don't look that good on girl (taking too much space on girl's face)
*But most important atribute is actual face. If a girl has beautiful face, smiles a lot.. we don't care a lot about else.
