It is easy, once you go numb, you don't feel anything. As long as frost bite doesn't start, we are fine.
It also has to do with tolerance, I spent a few months in Montana (Jan - Mar) with family. When I went back home south, 10 degrees felt like a nice warm balmy day. Anything about zero was considered a warm day. I would not wear a skirt at below zero, no thanks.
These days I think 25 is cold, but I adapted to current location. Still the whole once it goes numb works great, just have to get past it. The main thing is your core temp has to stay normal, if that goes cold your in trouble.

It's 9 minus (Celsius) and am outside taking a smoke. And this is not even close to coldest weather yes. At 33 minus Celsius i was wearing shorts in Aralanda airport in Stockholm, had a night shift, was waitting for a plane to land for 20 minutes 🤷♂️ no problem
Try to spend as little time outdoors as possible lol.

They are probably used to the coldness. When I went to Canada I was the only one with like 5 layers and everyone else were wearing skirts and shorts.
Alcohol shield works wonders on nights out, i think younger people are more immune to it, i know i used to have a challenge with a friend of mine to go the whole year in a polo shirt at school... neither of us would give in (no coats or anything all day and couldnt hide indoors during lunch)
I asked a friend of mine the same thing back in the `80's and she couldn't understand it, either! Supposedly, pantyhose help but, I don't quite see how. They DO help a LITTLE but NOT THAT much!!
But, these days, I've seen dozens of guys walking around in their Fart Simpleton "shorts" on the coldest days on the year like it didn't bother them at all!!
