Invariably it matches the style they want to get.

Some are very much a personal choice, possibly connected with music or fashion thing, such as Goth, Punk etc.

Where I live, if I go out in to Newcastle on a night out, most girls are pretty much wearing belts 365 days of the year, they always have done and likely always will.

Nope. Don't be silly. Girls tend to dress for the mood and aesthetic, guys are more functional.

Hence why when girls say "I've nothing to wear!" What they are really saying is "I've nothing to physically express the mood I am in!"
