Why don't more women wear sundresses?

They are associated with Spring, warm weather, blooms and blossoms everywhere. They are also quite feminine and girly.
What's not to like?
I like them, but I wouldn't look good in them.

I've wore them a few times. Depending on the occasion. Dress related, I'm more of a jumpsuit kind of girl. I'm a bit insecure about my shoulders and knees. Lol. Just an unattractive feature. Knees are something else to me. I'm skinny in general, and jumpsuits give me more comfort. I don't have to worry about the wind.
Because they don't look right on everyone's figure. Just because they exist, doesn't mean everyone should wear them... kind of like crop tops, short shorts, bikinis, etc...
Unfortunately, sundresses don't really compliment my figure very well. I have an athletic build (think broad shoulders, long legs). Plus, I have "bat wings." I don't like really wearing any type of top that shows off my arms.
Because many of them have abandoned their femininity and want to look like lazy dudes that just woke up. Hence why yoga pants, sweatpants, messy buns, oversized sweaters etc are trending right now.
They couldn't be bothered to even dress up nice for dates or interviews. They'll just show up wearing sweatpants and a tee and call it a day.
Might want to think about loosening that tie, sir. 😉
@dustybiker Probably should undo my 1920's stiff detachable collar as well haha
Which woman would show up for a date in sweats? Gosh... you've either dated some really weird women or you're just assuming... I've got 5 things to say
1. I don't bother to wear sundresses at home cuz I wanna be comfortable, I'm not going anywhere...
2. I prefer a cute top and jeans over a sundress, so yeah, that's personal preference... not "lazy dude" style...
3. And gosh no one wears sweats to interviews 💀... who would hire them?
4. How would I cycle or run or play in a goddamn sundress without worrying about it flying up?
5. Some of you are like "I hate girls who wear short, tight dresses... makeup, fake lashes, etc etc" and when they don't, y'all are like "they dress up like lazy dudes"... something's seriously wrong with that :)
@Sneha007 I've literally seen girls show up on dates in sweats, crop tops, and yoga pants. Even girls on here have asked if what they're wearing to the date is ok and it's sweats or some other unfashionable item.
1. Good for you?
2. Just because it's your personal preference doesn't make it any less tacky and lazy.
3. Lots of girls have worn sweats or crop tops and ripped jeans to interviews. I've interviewed such girls and no, they didn't get hired.
4. Women for centuries have played in sundresses or other nice garments and had no problem. If it's long enough, flying up isn't a problem.
5. There's a happy medium between excessive makeup and lashes and sweats and other lazy wear.
The fact that they don't wear it, doesn't mean they have abandoned a feminity, wtf. Everyone can wear what they want to. Fashion changes all time.
@uwu_princess ikr, exactly.
They're cute and I wear them most of the time but for super active girls they're just impractical. Some girls don't want to have to smooth their dresses down when they sit and fix them so that the person next to them doesn't ruffle it. And when walking up some stairs people under the stairs can peek up. Things like riding a bike, skate boarding and roller skating are so much trickier with a sundress. Some girls love doing those things.
I love dresses, and I wear them all the time.
The types you've shown are longer in style, and personally, that doesn't fit my body, cause I'm short and chunky.
I would absolutely wear more if it was easier to find in stores! And yes, even better if they had pockets.
Just remember, it's often also a question of whether or not they're in stores or not.
Currently, there's this trend for dresses where there is no waist for example, and you can hardly find anything else. (at least in my country). So take that into consideration, along with people's personal style and body type and such.
I live in the UK. I don't fancy dying from the cold 🤣
You are 100% correct... when ever I see these posts from women saying what should I wear. I always say a good sun dress is the sexiest and cuties thing and most guys really get into. Its supper feminine, sexy, but classy.
Because we are tired of being overly sexualized and being shamed for the type of clothing we decide to wear.
It’s not really funny….
Well you said summer dresses... so then why do you think that women don't wear dresses?
I wear them but the occasion has to be right... For instance, if it's too cold, isn't happening. Late dinner or to a club, I'm going with the LBD instead. If it's a pity date or a first date where there's no chance of sex, I'm wearing jeans.
The print had to be right, I prefer solid jewel colors. The fabric has to be right. And the dress has to display my breasts well, I'm only a small 36C and I can't wear a pushup bra if it's got spaghetti straps.
Ok, but that sunflower one is hella cute. Just saying
I personally hate sundresses (on myself, not on others)
I love wearing them, but I'm curvy enough to make anything indecent
Haha yeah
😉😉😜
It's winter now. I'm bundled up no ankles, no neck, no wrists, no way am I wearing a thin sundress lol.
But yes, sundresses are the best from late spring - early fall.
I love sundresses! Wore dresses all of last summer. Mostly cause I was super pregnant and couldn't fit into real clothes. Will probably wear them this summer too just for comfort.
Because I hate dresses full stop. They are so annoying and they itch my legs near the hem of the dress also the whole thing of “sitting lady like” while wearing dress pisses me off. I want to slouch down in my chair when I want to and sit how I want to without worrying about someone seeing up there.
I hate sundresses lol. I wonder why more women don't wear sleevless sheathe dresses (like Jackie Kennedy), I wear them all the time and love them. So classy
personally i'm not fond of long dresses, i prefer dresses that are slightlyyy above knee length usually. but sundresses are very cute on the right women
When I go out I see girls are only in crop tops trying show as much skin as possible or tiny shorts or skirt. I no longer see women dressed elegantly in sun dresses. Just crop tops.
Maybe they don't like the style or they generally don't like wearing dresses.
So your a skirts girl mostly.
@TheAfrikan No not really. I wear pants most of the time.
@Cherry234 that is also a better option since ladies look good sexy in pants too.
Personal preference. Not all people think the same as you do.
Because they feel too girly (not womanly) and I feel like a child playing dress up in them. Don’t know about other girls though
I wear them Not those ugly ones in the photo for sure. Those dresses in the photo will make majority of women not want tp wear them.
I think this response is a good example of why women don't wear sundresses. I see nothing wrong with any of the dresses in this photo and would love to see women in them; however, women's preferences have changed and sundresses haven't changed with it. So women don't wear them, because they don't like them anymore :/
I sometimes wear them, in the summer when its sunny. Not going to wear them in the middle of winter when snowing.
If they don't wear it, it means they don't like it 🤷♀️
Because some of us are self conscious of our bodies. Also the weather can be a factor. May I ask... why don't guys wear tank tops more often?
i like skirt more than sun dresses..
sun dresses are sometimes very boring..
When you have a nice figure, most anything looks good on you. I agree though, a pretty sundress looks hot on a good looking woman!
You need really nice arms and back to pull those off snd i no longer have that. Plus i hate wearing dresses
I just assume women these days don't like being feminine
Wht dont men wear more suit and ties? Or dress nicely?
I wear suits, ties, and dressy clothes every week. Wouldn't be caught dead in graphic tees and hoodies.
@Sneha007 - He's right. It's not as comparable. Sure, a suit & tie can make a man appear more attractive (due to its association with wealth, status, class, and so on), but it is also very uncomfortable and restricts mobility. A sundress, on the other hand, emphasizes attractiveness while remaining comfortable and not impeding mobility.
@Sonorous
Okay 1. In general, I and others who are disagreeing are OK with wearing a sundress cuz they do look pretty, if it's like for a date, going to the beach, or something like that... but like I said, we're "Ok" with it... doesn't mean we like doing it... We would prefer wearing a really stylish top and jeggings cuz we find it to look better and it's even more comfortable... so yeah, if we don't wanna wear sundresses we won't wear sundresses just because guys find it more attractive than the other styles... cuz we like our other style preferences and they too emphasize attractiveness while keeping us comfortable, and also not impeding mobility.
And 2. I at least don't find suits attractive due to it's association with wealth and all that... it simply makes the guy look decent- litterally just that can be attractive... decency... honestly I prefer a guy wearing a simple white or black t shirt and black jeans though (the specific colours I mentioned)... but I'm not gonna force them to go back to that style if they don't want to just because I like it...
@Sneha007 - And all of that appears to be reasonable to me. But I'm sure Cringe's intentions weren't to advocate forcing women to wear anything simply because he likes the way it looks. According to his description and question title, it appears that he simply wanted to express his love for the style and debate its worth with others.
I can tell why they don't in my country. It is because most women aren't comfortable showing cleavage.
Cause my leg has a scar from surgery and I don't like it
Thanks they are cute. It’s a matter of like shape and not really having pockets
because right now in United States of America is winter and sometimes women do not like sundresses
They don’t work well when riding a motorcycle.
Video or it didn’t happen.
Fair enough. Didn’t say you went commando…
That explains so much.
I suppose they're not much in style anymore. I don't care, I was never a big fan of them.
Well I do, I have the exact dress on the pic (second one) but in navy blue
I don't think they get as much attention with them as the tights and leggings
its An opinion, not a fact. I find those dresses unsexy.
Yeah they definitely are the best. I take my girlfriend shopping and say ill pay for it as long as its dresses and skirts but you want jeans or something like that buy your own. Lol it works.
I'm ugly and fat, boi. I can't.
Depending on the country the weather may just not be appropriate or good enough
Im wearing even in the winter. Yesyes im weirdo.
I still wear them occasionally.
I f'ing hate all dresses, so there.
I wear them all the time when the weather is good!
Don't know, they're comfy af!
“Cover up, it’s too revealing”
Well to me they’re not but I’ve been told a few times that it doesn’t completely cover the chest.
I don’t wear them because I don’t like dresses
I love wearing them but they aren't for everyone
I agree, I love sundresses.
they do, you just won't see them in the winter
True I find sundresses so cute
looks boring
I hate dresses.
Well it’s a little cold. That’s why.
Winter
They don’t like it
İdk..
I do in the summer
