What do you think about "Instagram vs reality" pictures?

Where someone shows how different they look comparatively when they're not all done up with makeup and lighting, angles and poses and editing, etc. Vs when they are.
Ex:

My camera opened when I turned off my alarm this morning and I looked bad, so I took a picture right then.
After I washed my hair later in the day, I looked good, so I took a picture.
Side by side, the two pictures look very different, but the only differences are that in the latter I'm fully awake, standing at a different place in the room, and my hair is washed.

I think it's pretty funny what a big difference little things can make.

I think they're interesting and it's alright to be reminded once in a while that of course posted pics are selected from a huge number of pics, taken in flattering poses and often altered. The first two things I think are pretty natural. Everyone wants to look as good as they can and there's nothing wrong with that. But I absolutely hate altered pics, especially when they make themselves thinner or similar. Just work on yourself instead, girl …

Often it's people posting these Instagram vs. reality pics themselves (and often just for attention and proceeding with the altered pics right afterwards), but what I find more interesting is comparing candid pictures of models or celebrities with the pics they post themselves. The difference is often jarring.

They're the biggest plague of our era. They create and perpetuate unrealistic expectations and beauty standards, exarcebate bdd, image and eating disorders and sometimes even causing people to get unnecessary plastic surgery...

I’m really not into filters. I just stop following or block those types if I see them to often in my feed. Fake face doesn’t deserve my attention.
As for makeup It smells like kitty litter and baby powder, and all I think about is clowns when I see someone init. Fortunately for everyone I keep my thoughts to myself. Ooops!

It's funny because one always see's this online as the examples but never speak about it the other way around.
I swear every girl I've met look better without makeup, not trying and in person than they ever do in any photo of themselves trying with angels, make up and all the rest.

I have friends that look as good as their pictures and aome even better. Not all girls fake their level of attractiveness on their Instagram, but yes... Instagram isn't necessarily an accurate portrayal of a person's physical attraction level.

To be honest when i see those instagram vs reality pics they kinda piss me off cuz they got me thinking im ugly asf when they edit the hell out of photos and overall they are fake as hell and its not a good thing to do, I understand the "impressive" aspect of it but its lying and its not right, but i understand when it is done as a teachable moment like this ig.

These THOTS show the reality through their TikTok videos, they're all single and alone, putting on all that FAKE-UP and expensive clothes for nothing.

Women use filters on social media, my roommates are average looking, they're not that big of a deal, but on Instagram, filters make them look beautiful, any man who doesn't know them in real life would be fooled.
