Why are Koreans / Japanese / Chinese women so obsessed with looking pale & European when they naturally aren’t?

Wearing foundation that is 5x too light for them.

why are they so obsessed with looking European

I could be wrong but I remember reading from somewhere that a woman is seen as attractive if she is delicate which can seen from the amount of time she spends working outside. If she's working outside a lot her skin will be darker than if she wasn't and that lessens her value since it goes against the stereotypical depiction of a beautiful delicate woman.

Whereas in guys masculinity is the opposite which can be seen from how much they spend time working outside in the sun.

So girls actively try to make their skin look lighter to fit the stereotype.

Don't quote me on this being true or not though as I just remember reading about it.
