very much. the good and bad thing of it is everyone has different tastes and we are our own worse critics. even people with high self esteem will cut themselves down. a facinating experiment. they put 10 strangers 1 on 1 in a room for an hour. they would chit chat and after the hour they spoke over an intercom with a scetch artist and described both themselves and the person they were in the room with. in every single case the stranger's description of the other came out nicer looking then the persons description of themselves.

Attraction yes, beauty, not so much.
in my opinion as a guy, we can be attracted to someone who isn't a 9/10. We know she's not a stunner or the most "beautiful" woman in the world, but we don't care. Being attracted to the person physically and emotionally beats beauty.

I think less now then it once was. My best friend is absolutely gorgeous, and it used to be super easy for her to find anyone to swoon over her - but she (knowingly) would only contribute her looks to any relationship. Now a days she has had to put in a lot more work than before

Without lying, it’s always mattered. It’s not the most important thing but having beauty definitely gets you somewhere which is kinda unfair but it is what it is.
