I want to possibly be a news broadcaster one day. I’ve never been told my anyone in my life that I couldn’t do it. Everyone’s always told me I had the right look for television or I had nice teeth or a nice smile or that they could see me on tv. I was just wondering why everyone says this and as a woman is being attractive the only thing that matters when becoming a news anchor?

I do get your point here, but the sad fact is that sex sells. I know it's a sad commentary of today's world, but think about this; when is the last time you've seen a woman doing news, weather, even sports on TV who wasn't at least somewhat attractive? I honestly can say I can't recall the last time I have. I work in a male dominated field and I've heard the whispers that I'm in my job only because "she's eye candy" or "she may be smart, but she's also hot", neither of which are true, I worked very hard and studied a LOT to get where I am, and I'm proud of that no matter what the talking heads may think or say.

Bottom line, don't listen to any of that BS, just do what you do and be proud of yourself when you get there.

It's appearances. But don't let other peoples thoughts or comments dissuade you.
Figure out what the qualifications are and work on yourself and your skills to achieve it.
If its what you truly want, dedicate yourself to it.
