I am constantly losing hair and nothing is working. I don't know how to deal with it because i don't feel attractive anymore. What do i do? I just feel angry and sad and feel helpless.
Going bald isn't the end of the world, but you can treat and prevent it.
Get Minoxidil/Rogaine ASAP if you want to keep your hair or regrow what can be saved of the hair that has diminished. Apply twice daily--just follow the instructions. If any hair is growing out of a follicle (even if the hair is thin and small), then the follicle can be saved. My dermatologist told me that Minoxidil is the first, most important ingredient in a regimen against baldness. It acts by preventing DHT from binding to your follicles and starving them.
Other treatments include pills, but these usually mess with your hormones, and can cause infertility, diminished libido, and other things that low testostorone would cause. (A Hormone and Testosterone derivative, Dihydrotestosterone, is what causes androgenic alopecia, or male-pattern baldness. DHT binds to follicles and prevents blood and nutrients from sustaining them). The pill treatments like Propicia, that I have heard of, address the problem by reducing the amount of DHT in your system, unlike Minoxidil, which only prevents the DHT from attaching to hair follicles. I don't like the idea of using pills, because I don't like the listed side-affects. My dermotologist told me that usually older guys will opt for things like Propecia, because their testostorone is already declining. And they've also usually done the Testostorone-assisted things that they wanted to do, like have kids and get swole.
A treatment that I do recommend, though it has limited scientific backing, is scalp massaging. They can be self-administered. They work by stretching the galea (tough connective tissue on your head). Stretching it reduces the tension that seems to cause baldness. Look up a video of how to do it. I have heard that 10 minutes per day is what should be done.If you end up with a hairline that you really don't like, cut your hair short. Balding is not a sin or an indication of bad health, so there is no need to hide it. Hiding it looks like you're insecure. A guy from my fraternity is 19 and has a hairline that is already farther back than Vegeta's from Dragon Ball Z. It happens, man. The worst of your problems will be some good-natured joking from your guy friends, and maybe a chilly scalp in winter.
If you are insecure, start addressing that by taking note of every time you see a cool guy who is balding. Bill Burr is bald. Joe Rogan is bald. You know guys in your family and friends who at least have a receding hairline. Their lives aren't less fun for being bald or on the way there.
Good luck homie.
Sincerely,
- a 23 year old with the bald gene

Asker+1 yThanks man. For the sheer effort alone. I am doing everything but not very hopeful. Let's see. Its just that I've always been the kid who looks good and it is difficult for me. I was always noticed for looking good and now the complete opposite. Its difficult and makes me think about other people and their suffering. But at the same time I have never mocked anyone or laughed at anyone's pain or suffering. I know a lot of shallow people who do and they are alright while I'm going to become their target.

+1 yMen aren't supposed to be pretty. The issue that men like you have is that you've been taught to think like women.
Women, and people in general, don't care about your hair unless you have a stupid hairdo, like a man-bun or something. As a man, people care more about your strength and your character. Bald men can still be attractive and respected.
My hair started to fall out and recede when I was 22. Ever since I shaved it all off because I began to look better without hair than with it.
It's all about confidence. There's nothing worse than a guy trying to hold on to his hair when he's obviously losing it. If anything is going to make you less attractive it's insecurity around going bald.
I just remembered this video where Stirling Cooper basically says all of the same things.

+1 yMy boyfriend is balding & has been since he entered his twenties. He's 28 now & is almost completely bald on the crown of his head. It appears to have escalated some since I got pregnant & gave birth this past February, but I attribute that to the added stress of starting a new job & being jumped up 3 promotions SUPER FAST (first promotion in a month, second promotion 2 months after & a third when his coworker left to go to school full time 2 months later), as well as becoming a dad.
I still find him incredibly attractive.
He hides it with a hat. I make a point to massage his scalp & kiss his bald spot periodically.
You could try hormonal therapy, or whatever they're selling on those TV ads pertaining to balding. You could also just completely shave your head.00 Reply
Consult a dermatologist. There are effective treatments for alopecia, this is 2022. If it's genetic, or a result of high testosterone, Minoxidil, Fimasteride, vitamin supplements and PRP injections. If it's an autoimmune thing, there are medications that can help, such as steroids

Easy to manage and care free. Get some tats go work out and you'll be fine man.

Yeah I would never go back to having hair. Too much trouble.
581 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I started losing my hair in my mid-20s and it's been slowly progressing. I still have hair but it's thinned considerably (and evenly) at the top. I pretty much have to get a haircut every month. I know eventually I'll have to get rid of it all because I ain't rocking a cul-de-sac but my fear is I don't have the skull shape and skin tone to pull it off. I've considered all the options other people presented to you, but my understanding is it's very hit or miss for guys and you have to be on it for life. If you stop, then you lose whatever meager hair you regrew or retained. For the cost and amount of effort you have to put in to maintenance, I was never convinced that it's viable for the long-run.
00 Reply931 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. See a doctor you balding dumbass. If it's stress or alopecia then there are treatments.
Most likely you're just using the wrong shit on your hair.

Asker+1 yMy doc honestly seems like and idiot. I know it has been only a week of the treatment but I'm not too positive about it tbh.
- +1 y
If you don't trust your doctor because he is half an idiot then simply find a new doctor. There is an over abundance of doctors. I have worked extensively with doctors as a career. I can safely say that 95% of doctors you meet are complete assholes.
+1 yYour Stressing out worried too much. Loss of hair as well as your hair Losing it’s color and turning Grey is a sign of worry. People who are psychopathic and don’t stress don’t worry at all. Will not experience hair loss at all.

+1 yMake sure to go get checked by a doctor. Hair loss can be indicative of a lot of things, and can be a temporary thing.
Asker+1 yYes. I should. I had full body check up and it came out kind of flawless. Which was odd. But I can almost feel it that I'm getting weaker and weaker from inside. I don't know if this whatever weakness is the cause for hairfall.
- +1 y
Make sure you press to get tested.
I've lost hair when I had a poor diet (not eating enough, not getting all the nutrients I needed), and also when I've gone through extremely stressful times.
Sometimes everything checks out but there's small things that can still affect it.
Hopefully you're all good. Even if not, though, own it! Go see a barber you like and get their opinion - but no matter what bald men are still attractive, in my opinion.
547 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. My brother lost a lot of his and I'm going nuts thinking it's my turn soon (I'm older) so I know the feeling.
But honestly unless you can afford a transplant I would say grow out a beard and do the bald bearded look it's very masculine and often seen as sexy by women.
Just don't fall into the trap of wearing it in weird ways trying to cover up the spots because that never works and looks like you are insecure and trying too hard00 ReplyIt’s genetics mostly sometimes you can’t help it no matter how good you eat!
Instead of stressing yourself better shave it really and be bald
Or you can look for hair surgery / transplant
Or hair capillary treatment they cost maybe 4K to 5k but it might be worth it in the end if you really don’t want to go bald00 Reply
+1 yIn addition to what everyone else said, I highly recommend The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density. This should be used *in conjunction* with a low dose (2x/week only) of Finasteride (consult your doctor) and with daily use of Rogaine.
But, if all else fails, work on having confidence, a good personality, dressing well, taking care of your body/fitness level, and (in a perfect world) having a good and lucrative career. These will make any guy more attractive, hair or not.
Think about it. What if a girl has PERFECT breasts but everything else on her is horrible. Will you find her attractive? What if everything else about her is almost perfect (hair, style, fitness level, face, personality, etc) but her breasts aren't perfect. The big picture is more important than any one factor.

+1 yMy suggestion is just to shave your head- unless you have serious money hair implant surgery isn't gonna help you, and since this is genetic it's not going to get better.
Don't worry, many girls find bald men more masculine, and you'll also look taller.
00 ReplyGet some rosemary or lemon oil, they work wonderfully with my father!
Asker+1 yThanks. Will try.
+1 yYou can try Rogaine or Minoxidil if it’s just the crown that’s thinning. If you have the money you can get the hairline surgery as well. Otherwise I’d just shave it off if it really bothers you. It’s really nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to most men.
00 ReplyThere's no stopping it if it's genetic, things you can do
1: accept it and live with it
Or
2: go completely bald
Or
3: get a hair transplant asap!!!11 Reply

One day, out of the blue, I mustered up the courage and went to work without something on my head.
Nobody said anything. It was as if nobody even noticed.
WHAT A RELIEF.
That was the day that I realized that the world doesn't revolve around me and it doesn't matter how I look or how bald I am; because I'm still better off than midgets00 ReplyGo to a hair speacialist, maybe its soemthing ur eating or a product ur using maybe, Maybe or ur stressed out. Anyway I would get started on propecia and rogaine asap. You can also look into hair transplants. I got a hair transplant two years ago and it’s grown in nicely.
