How do I prevent my concealer from looking cakey?

Hi, I haven’t been getting enough sleep lately and i use concealer to hide my eye bags. (I don’t use foundation). I use a peach color corrector and then a concealer. The thing is, my under eyes look chalky and cakey AF within 20 mins of applying the concealer.

I do apply a primer and don’t use too much concealer. I make sure to blend in properly. I also tone and hydrate my skin before concealing my under eyes but of no use.

My skin gets very dry in winters and my T-Zone is oily. I moisturize my skin every day. I have a combination skin.

Someone help this girl out. Please😭

are the skin care and makeup products you use compatible? some skin care products make concealers and foundations peel and get patchy and stuff because the ingredients are just not compatible.


also do you set your concealer with a good quality powder? that is very important if you’re moving around a lot because unset wet products move easier with friction.


less is more but you already said you don’t use a lot so that doesn’t seem to be the issue…

I’m not sure. I use the tea tree toner from body shop, and as for moisturizer, I use aloe Vera for my t-zones, cheeks and neutrogena hydro boost for my under eyes

You need moisture. Use a makeup sponge and spray some hydrating mist on it. This will put some moisture on your skin.

It also doesn't have to be a hydrating mist.

You could have a moist makeup sponge and dab it over the concealer to remove the excess.

I did try it once, but didn’t work. 😞
I’m not sure if the primer I’m using is for my skin type. Should people with dry skin use a water based one? I’ll try both this time though. Thanks so much❤️

Yeah you definitely need a water based foundation primer and concealer.
