Girls, why are gloves often worn with gowns?

Originated back in the day when people were more covered up. The more exposed skin, the more scandalous.

The act of taking off one's glove can be very seductive... or elegant. That is its own reward, in a way.

Would love to see a return to some of that. Gloves, heels, pearls, beautiful dresses, etc. Wished I could have lived during some of those more elegant times.
