No. That's an oxymoron in itself. "Cosmetic surgery" (its real name) means purely for aesthetic purposes; as in, not-medical. There is no reason why people would medically need to get cosmetic surgery, but you're trying to imply that people should get this surgery for self-esteem reasons. And if that were the case, then plenty of A-cup women in the world should get free breast implants and I should get free leg lengthening surgery too, cause those would also all help boost their and I's self esteem, as well. But they are not free and should not be free. And your reasoning for it is not good enough.

I think a cleft lip is a good enough reason for surgery. Cleft lips can cause trouble speaking and eating.

Reconstructive surgery can also improve peoples physical appearance like cosmetic surgery. Like getting surgery for a cleft lip can definitely improve a person’s physical appearance

The physical appearance would only be a side benefit or bonus, but the main purpose would be for medical reasons, not looks. So it isn't cosmetic surgery. And I've had both done before (bariatric surgery and scar removal on my face.)

And the hospital must donate its services? It will just raise it's rates for paying patients to cover the expense?

You are just talking about makng someone else pay for the surgery, right? So don't call it "free."

In some countries government funding goes towards medically necessary surgeries

Medical reasons like a cleft, insurance should cover some as usual. If patient or family can't pay for rest then payments should come into play or from donations. Car accidents should be included and botchedand malpractice surgeries. But good christian medical people would probably donate their time.

Also, that's called "corrective surgery" not "plastic surgery". there is a big difference.

In fact, most corrective surgery is done on bad plastic surgery.

Im dealing with this right now and my insurance won't cover the surgery and i dong have 20,000 bucks to correct a surgery that failed when i was a kid and it was covered by insurance then
