I have been recommended tons of videos about pretty privilege on YouTube lately. I don't understand why people think it's real. Do you think pretty/beautiful people get treated better than ugly/unattractive people?
I know that a lot of people believe it is real. Perception is reality. So that's the difficult part. We might not be able to factually prove it but to some it is real.
Do I believe it's real? No, but then I'm not a woman, pretty or otherwise. (And I don't think this is a man thing.)
As for why people think it's real, people want answers in general. And in the narrative in their head, pretty privilege is an easy answer for the ills in their life. That someone got something not because of merit or another reason but because they're pretty. It's a way to make an excuse or blame.
That said, we are human. Do I think that pretty privilege should get capital letters and be a proper noun and have government regulations? No, it's not real in that sense. But, as I said, we're all human and, yes, there are people out there who treat pretty people better than less pretty people. But that's a singular choice by those humans much more so than pretty privilege is a thing.
Yes just because someone is good looking doesn't mean that what they have was handed to them from the sky!
Come on. Pretty people, especially pretty women have much easier lives in every category.

Yeah it is but people tend to forget that pretty people also have a lot of problems and not everything gets thrown at them... there are also negative and bad sites to it
Pretty privilege is absolutely real, speaking as someone that hasn't benefitted from it. There's a very real thing, with women especially, where the prettier you are, the better treated you are all around -- but it also comes with the danger of how much more easily you're targeted by predatory men.
I have experienced pretty privilege, and was nearly groomed for it as a child when I was 11 years old with C-cup tits looking like a child with a bombshell pin-up body. I can't tell you how many older men would compliment me, flirt with me, thank god this was before facebook or I would have 100% been targeted and groomed by a pedophile. It was also the time I received the most compliments from friends and family members whenever I would try to look nice.
Pretty privilege is a privilege undoubtedly, you can hear about it from the formerly fat and how angry it made them to realize that to get total strangers to be kinder to them, they just had to be skinny and how infuriating it is to think that the world is such a shallow place. A lot of it has to do with evolutionary thinking, we're trained to look for certain skin types, hair types, how symmetrical a face is, etc, because it shows how healthy that person is as an individual and how healthy the offspring produced with them could be. But yeah, pretty privilege is a thing, and often the people who don't believe in it are the people who are just conventionally attractive enough to experience it.
Well, everyone around me is always nice to me. No matter where I go, people are always so kind to me. Guys are always gentle with me. I don't know if they find me pretty or not. I thinks it's possible they find me cute. I have a baby face. And stores always give me free stuff. I have gotten over $300+ of free stuff in just one year. One time some guy held the door open for me... but I was probably 200ft away. He was about to close the door (it was a clear door) and he saw me and stayed standing there holding the door open for me.. I tried speeding up my walk (I was wear heels😭) and finally I get there and said "thank you" to him. His girlfriend was standing next to him and she got mad at him. She said "really, really?😡" Tbh I felt embarrassed. I don't know if I have pretty privilege or not... but I guess guys find me pretty.
I noticed guys who are conventionally attractive are always super nice in general though. Regardless of what you look like. I don't understand why people say good looking guys are always shallow stuck up jerks. The good looking guys I meet are always the sweetest.

I was asked for job interview at my own university for a position. I was gold medal holder and everyone including teachers said I am fit for the role. And then the interview came and they choose two girls. One of them didn't even knew the subject that she was teaching. She used to ask me for help and I had evidence. She was not a bad girl and neither her fault.
The old geezers wanted someone to cool there eyes and that's it. Finally it went open as one of the teacher's contacted me later to see what happened and I told her the entire story. I told the fucking bastards if they think they are not doing MIT or Moscow State University level work and should get a life living in there own little world.
They talked about damage control and then nothing. Good riddance I said to that institute.
Second time, I was in bank line and a guy sent his wife to get cheque deposit on purpose and then created a drama that she is not being treated nice. Like hello, anybody home there was a queue ticker and her turn was 30 places before and 3 other women also sidelined by her and the Bank cashier just chuckled.
And lots of cases like that.
I am not hating women but I find all men workplace to be more efficient. I like women to work in factories but better they work in same gender factories with little interaction. Because somehow guys start thinking with there dicks in office places. Seen a few fake injury cases as well where a women and her husband tried to blackmail guys by faking getting hit or fake medical record like broken arm. (Literally costs just 100 USD to 300 USD to get a fake medical record to entrap a person)
Basically Flirting that leads no where happens more often and there’s a lot of petty behavior, general negative assumptions & many people out to compensate for whatever unfair treatment they believe you get. Basically a handful of people will suck up to you for absolutely no reason in a very shallow way and the rest of the world wants to hold you accountable for something ridiculous you didn’t want to begin with. I’d say pretty based attention is mostly awkward useless & often harmful. It’s really unfortunate so much gets made out of so little that lasts for such a short time. Wish people got turned on by what’s inside.

A specific example elsewhere: My friend's older sister is a high school dropout who works as a receptionist. The older sister pulls about $120K per year. Why? She only types around 40 words per minute. Oh, it's because she looks like Lynda Carter did when she played Wonder Women, except the sister has a bigger bust, and after she flirts with them the middle aged male men who come in become clients because they want to be around her.
of course pretty privilege is real. it's existed since the dawn of time and will continue to exist until the end of time.
people are naturally drawn to what they find attractive whether for good or bad and it's not just other people. there's a reason we prefer puppies and kittens over snakes and spiders. we prefer a mansion over a cardboard box, a shiny new car over a rusty old car, clean clothes over dirty clothes etc. the list goes on.
Oh it’s 100% really real no sauce this is real stuff!! I have a dear friend who’s maybe a 6 she’s cute nothing special she used to be 250 pounds + now she’s 140 she says the difference in how people treat her is UNBELIEVABLE. Everyone is nice to me given my age my frand I’ve always been already a 7. Probably an8-9 at certain points I’m not trying to brag I’m just making a point
Yes it has been proven by scientific studies and social psychology over and over again. There was a girl on YouTube, who made a video about how she was ignored by people, after she lost part of her hair and was forced to cut it short. And vice versa, there are people who report being treated better after losing weight and having a glowup. People who claim it's not real, is because they never had to deal with discrimination in their life. Same thing goes for people, who claim racist doesn't exist
Yes, it definitely exists for both women and men; however, only people who find you attractive will give you this "privilege". Those who don't won't give you it and sometimes may even give you a deliberately hard time. That said, there's still a big benefit.
In college, I was in a social behavior type of environment in which we did various studies on campus regarding such things. I had read studies that persons that are perceived to be 'attractive' do receive better treatment, than those that are not perceived that way. "Pretty people" men and women alike are in fact treated better than those that are not. There have been studies that have been done, but I cannot direct you to them, at this point.
Yes it's real... that's just how humans work 😆... And I think there's nothing wrong with it unless it makes you do the opposite.. treat people who are not attractive worse than you should and that actually happens a lot too... And it's no secret that guys treat a girl based on how hot she is lol... But girls do it too... Okay, fine... Humans are toxic xD
I won't like, I've given discounts/free entry to hot girls at my work before. I've done it with others too, but I',, more likely to do it for a hot girl.
But I will say this, I think hot girls can get away with doing certain things that men and less attractive girls can. Maybe in Greece/Europe it doesn't exist, but in the U. S. it's very real I think.

Yep. My ex and I would test it for fun. We would set up couch surfing/airbnb profiles 1 listing her as single , 1 as with a couple and 1 with me. Her single profile would get 6x the free stay offers my bio got (all from guys) and our couples account would get a few more (mostly from couples).

Yeah people who are more attractive are treated overall better in some cases but that can also be a negative because you dont know if people like you for you or just because you're attractive.

I'd say yes, especially when it comes to first impressions. In the long run, it wanes significantly as personality flaws become more apparent.

A lot of people believe it too be real, and it does sometimes happen, if not as regularly as people think. My ex wife used to take advantage of it when she could and flirt with salesmen to get a discount
