Yes, it's more hygienic than sweaty dreadlocks.
However I have straight growing hair, with sterile blade, shaving foam and after shave without alcohol it's practically not different to leg shaving.

Not if you don't want to. I have a preference for smoothness on a girl but I don't find hairy armpits unnatractive.

I shave mine cause of the hair growing long and smells bad. Plus it's easier to apply deorderant without it getting stuck in the hair.

That's primarily up to you. I personally find it to be a turn off if I come across unshaved armpits but people should do what they want to do. So if you don't want to, don't and see how it is.
