Is a mullet unprofessional?

I know it's just hair. But I always heard people saying when I was younger, having dyed hair, having tattoos or piercings, having any hairstyle or appearance that was not "normal" made you look unprofessional. Even heard women with a sideshave and multiple ear piercings called unprofessional.

I have a job interview tomorrow and I have a mullet, and some faded dye left from months ago. I don't want to cut my hair again because I I like how it looks now. But I wasn't thinking about getting a new job when I changed to this style.

In your experience has your hairstyle or color ever effected your job or your trying to get a job? Has anyone ever commented on it as a negative thing in a professional setting?

Depending on what type of job it is you should be fine. Surfing instructor? Good to go. Wall Street trader? No go.
