It is 80, 90 degrees plus all over the country, way too hot for anything other then shorts (or skirts or dresses), but I still see substantial numbers of women wearing capri length (even full length) leggings and pants. I am curious as to why. This seems so unbearable.
Because I have body dysmorphia, and I don't have perfect legs. I feel more comfortable and hidden, if I wear shorts in public I'm thinking people are thinking how horrible my legs are because they're not long and slender. I don't wear a tanktop in public either, especially since my self-harm scars are pretty noticeable on my upper left arm.
I wear shorts and a tanktop, but only at home; never in public.

Maybe they simply feel more comfortable in them. I see what you mean, but long pants don't have to be a wrong choice for such weather. A lot depends on the material. If these are long pants made from light linen, silk or viscose, they're a perfect choice for someone who doesn't like shorts. At the same time a dress made from polyester can make you sweat and feel bad all the time.
