When I see really big names like that I just think "lack of imagination". Knowing the person only bought it for the name. Without the name a 100$ tshirt becomes a 10$ tshirt.
I was at a bar last year and this guy walks in with a Tommy Hilfinger polo shirt, Hilfinger jeans, Hilfinger hat, Hilfinger boxers (you could see the waistband clear as day), and I'd bet Hilfinger shoes. And he looked and acted like such a tool lol, thinking he was the star of the show and I thought "he's probably never had an original thought in his life."
To answer your question, the big Name does outweigh the appearance, and not exactly in a good way.
Clearly, these days, names outweigh the appearance. "Ugly" fashion is a thing right now. Puffer jackets, oversized clothing, ripped up clothing, et cetera. People are willing to pay big bucks to look like they have no money.
To me, it's ridiculous and hilarious. A t-shirt is just a t-shirt, why does it matter if it has Gucci on it or is blank from Wal-Mart?
A lot of my clothes are vintage but they're made extremely well, better than a lot of these big brands but for way less.

Only Nike. But I don't care how many swooshes it has. Ugly is ugly! I ain't buying if I find it ugly. And I'm a bit of a sneaker snob. I personally don't think Nike has made a nice pair of kicks really since the late 90's I find myself buying mostly retro's.
I'm not a brands person so definitely not. I really don't understand the culture that values that sort of thing.
Yes, sometimes it destroys good clothes. I don't really want to be a walking advertisement.
I have a problem with this clothing because you are paying them to advise their shit. Shit that was made for pennies on the dollar by poor people who do not earn a decent wage.
You might as well wear a t shirt that says "I'm an idiot" when you pay 590 for a tshirt made in China.
No, the so called 'Premium' brands are not with the price tag, especially clothing, shoes and accessories (bags etc) most of the materials are not anything special.
The name does not outweigh the appearance. If it's ugly, I'm not buying it.
