What do you think about a person who wears multiple $$$ designer pieces all at once to show off how "sophisticated" they are? Is it classy or trashy?

1 yMy personal opinion (and I apologize in advance if you wear brand names, but I'm not trying to take any shots at you or anyone specifically, but I'll speak bluntly), HIGH END brands target the sheep of society.

Most people wear them for social status and flaunt the brand name, and not necessarily for quality and aesthetic. It's a waste of money to buy brand names. You can find the manufacturer makes the products for not even a fraction of the price the brand sells it for. They make profit margins in the thousands of percents.
Whenever I see someone wearing a bunch of branch names, I see an obnoxious, materialistic, sheep.
There ARE brand names that are decent like H&M. One of my distant relatives owns a couple clothing stores and he saw me at a wedding and he was like that's a nice blazer ya have there man. I told him it was from H&M and I got it for $60 and he was like "$60? Fuck H&M. I could never." And he was looking at the material and the stitching and analyzing it completely objectively. It was a good blazer.10 Reply

1 yI'm gonna have to say trashy because I've seen more amazing/classy/hot/etc outfits that aren't brand name than ones that are. Also because anyone who feels a need to show off expensive clothes probably doesn't have a good personality 😬
People can enjoy expensive clothes without flaunting them, and that's fine.

Agreed. A gal showed up this week wearing designers from head to toe and with her nose turned up high. Not sure why she didn't just pick ONE nice thing to elevate a more basic look... which would have been nicer and more classy in my opinion.
(As a single parent I'm rarely able to have designer stuff, but I've always been told I look classy, which is a trick Mama taught me... Keep a budget and look proper/suitable for work and such.)
1 yIt's trashy for a brand name to show at all, in my opinion. Tom Ford, Overland, and Frye are fairly discreet. Who wants a bag with a name splattered across it? I do like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger as far as ready-to-wear goes. I am a lover of cashmere, but it's difficult to find a quality, ethical brand. My favorite thing is small, ethical companies right now, and European brands like Sezane.
I rarely buy clothing now though, simply because I care about how it was produced, and buying ethical clothing is expensive. But I'd rather have four quality t-shirts ethically made than twenty cheap ones, made using slave labor.

1 yIts not trashy but its tacky depending on the fit. Still i’d wear a ralph lauren polo vneck and American eagle undies under an adidas tracksuit paired nike air force ones 😂

But a gucci shirt with louis pants with a coach bag would be super tacky

Mixing multiple designer logos can quickly shift from classy to looking a bit overdone. Less is more when it comes to displaying sophistication. Opting for one statement piece and balancing it with simpler, high-quality items usually creates a more refined look. Style should ultimately reflect confidence and grace, not necessarily the number of logos you can wear at once. What's your go-to piece you love to show off? 💃✨

Anonymous(30-35)1 yI'm from Europe, and wearing numerous brands at once is undoubtedly classless. To complete the look, wear a simple Dior dress and Dior heels but never a Chanel piece, and vice versa. If someone wears only one brand from head to toe, such as Louis Vuitton, "I see so many rappers doing this," it appears classless and detracts from the brand's elegance.
11 ReplyWell if they are all the same it might ok. Like matching. But if they are not then they may clash. You mammy have one that doesn't like the owner of this one. Infighting ensues. So I refrained from voting because to me I don't care if you got brands tattooed on your forehead, tho I might laugh.

That's what I thought too. But if the person showed up in a Chanel outfit (head to toe), then ok. The stuff matches.
But the person showed up in YSL sunglasses and GUCCI dress and CHANEL/Lagerfeld shoes. (The styles don't match at all aside from being the same color.) And all the accessories were Dolce but different metals, so to me it looked trashy.

1 yDepends on the style, some people wear branded stuff with big logo of the brand. They look so trashy.
But some also wear branded stuff with hidden logo, who no one knows if they are wearing branded (only people who know who understand) that still look classy.10 Reply - 555 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.
1 yIf you are wearing them just for the brand names it seems awfully stupid. There are, however, certain characteristics of brands that are a bit more subtle- like the soles of Louboutins that seem classy looking

10 Reply 7.7K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. If you’re gonna wear one brand-name wear all the same brand-name. It doesn’t make sense to wear Tommy Bahama dress shirt and Calvin Klein pants. Or a Versace dress shirt and Giorgio Armani pants

1 yNever understood the obsession with name brands. Most of them are made the same if not worse, and often times by slave labor.
10 Reply 2.6K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. It is trashy. I always think they are all knockoffs anyway.
