I think there should be reasonable standards but I'm not really into the idea of school uniforms outside of poor areas. Even then I'm not totally for them.
As long as the kids aren't literally showing their ass cheeks or wearing shirts with pictures of like drugs or something just beyond stupid on them, there shouldn't be much of a dress code.
What I always kinda wondered about for the girls is if you're 16 and one of the popular girls is running around with no bra and super tight everything, and looks like a model, does that make the other girls feel like they need to do the same?
And then it's like, obviously this is a distraction. Not even just to the boys but to the girls too. School isn't a place for advertising your body in overly sexual ways.
13 Reply@davado88 what kind of area do you live in? The cities near where I live are big and have a lot of gang activity. Most people don't know about the long history of everything that's been tried to keep kids out of gangs.
You might be surprised to learn that one of the most successful things they did was convert public schools dress codes to requiring a uniform.
To put it concisely, this took away a major part of what was frustrating the kids enough to want to join a gang. Some of these kids were extremely poor. Like no money for shoes or soap.
What do you think that does to a kids mentality when every day they're living like they're in a 3rd world country and their peers are so much less poor than they are, the kids who's parents have a combined income of 85k/yr seems rich? The answer is it fucks them up.
School uniforms make it so parents don't have to feel responsible for keeping up with trends and expensive fashion trends, nobody has to know that the kid is any less well off than anyone else. When kids grow up not making fun of eachother, they have a decreased likelihood of looking for comraderie in a gang.
I just kinda hate that has to be the solution. But I still got you on that high five brobroLol that wasn't concise

I think it depends on the school. If it is a public school, paid for by taxpayers, a school board elected by taxpayers should be able to determine the dress code. If it is a private school, the school should be able to determine its dress code.

Definitely! This is a school, not Only Fans. Kids have enough to keep them busy and don't need tramp-wear to distract them from paying attention in class. As it is there was apparently too much of that in Sex Ed. class and why over 1 million teens get pregnant every year.

In those posh private school they have a uniform dress code. My cousin who lives in the UK says that they have to wear uniforms to school as well. Personally I think it’s wrong. We should be allowed to wear what we want to school like I was.

If you mean uniforms and things like that then bell no! We strive for freedom here in America, however there should be a new rule that prohibits any Satanic merchandising from passing a school gate. I’ve been seeing that bullsh*t far too much and something needs to be done about it. They’ve already crossed the line with their gay gender identity crisis baloney and now they’re just spreading death like skunks marking territory.

I think dress codes should be there.
we had it and i loved wearing it.
it makes everyone look alike and people who are not that rich or could afford they too can look alike as the rich ones.
so that’s why i like it

Within reason. We all know “that guy” who would wear the lowest cut tank top ever and ranger panties or “that girl” who would show up in a sports bra and the littlest spandex shorts she could find. There’s gotta be something in place to keep people from doing that. So I’m for a dress code, but within reason. Idc about showing shoulders or anything, but yeah there’s gotta be some level of modesty. You’re in a school, not a gym or pool party.

No. I liked whatever I wanted and I wouldn’t like to have it limited.

I support freedom of choice in clothing.
I have always had a uniform. I don't understand school without them. It gives a sense of community and responsibility and it also shows off the high status of the school, if it is a high status school.

Jeans & T-shirts for girls or skirts, dresses, shorts, tops but what they wear they should look appropriate also the same for the guys too. I can't understand these Uniform dress codes.

basic dress code. kids showing up in underwear, revealing stuff, or pajamas is BS.

Uniform, though it should be pretty generic so you can cheap from supermarket not having to go to a specific uniform shop where they charge £20 for a tie

Uniforms are for prisoners.
They better not impose that in hot areas like FL, California, Texas. Luisiana.

My school's dress code for girls no crop tops, boys no sagging pants that show underwear.
