I believe it’s just growing up without anyone telling them NO — being surround by enablers all the time, with nobody to keep their ego or arrogance in check.


A friend of mine has a cousin who has parents that let him get away with everything and they’re always trying to appease him so he doesn’t get upset. He throws tantrums and he never gets disciplined for it. He disrespects people and nobody calls him out. There are no enforcement of rules so he just walks around like he owns the place. He’s only 19 and he’s a male Karen in the making.


So, I believe it’s primarily bad parenting that’s the cause of ‘Karens’. They’ve never had a firm hand guide them or discipline them at all. Some kids need some tough love to grow. Or else, they just never grow up.

And by tough love, I don’t necessarily mean beating — I mean setting rules and boundaries and enforcing those rules and boundaries — knowing when to be stern and firm.
