I usually wear the type of slippers that appear to contain fabric more than plastic so it doesn't snap around the floor and make noise like you mentioned, but I don't like how the slipper never cleaves to my feet properly unless it's too tight and small for me. The shifting between boundaries when I wear them stresses out my upper foot and leads to foot pain. I also don't like how the slipper doesn't always follow the direction my foot is guiding it to, cause it might acknowledge a mid point or lower foot part to guide it's position on my feet rather than the part of my feet I want it to follow when I'm trying to manipulate it's position on my feet. Also I don't like how I have to monitor its distance from my feet to make sure I'm not touching people's couches or sofas with it as a guest in their home. It's an etiquette hazard and might get me negative criticism from my family if I wear slippers.

I do hate them. Most are designed to just slide your feet in. Which means your feet slide out as you walk. Worthless. I just wear socks instead of slippers.

What I hate is getting grit stuck to my feet from walking around barefoot. Also wet socks from stepping in puddles wearing just socks. Slippers prevent both those things... though to be fair what I wear are more like plastic sandles.

I hate the sound as well but I've also found that my feet get to hot and sweaty to be comfortable.

I wear flipflops and socks around the house for comfort instead.
