Depends. Sometimes it can be subjective. I know one woman who is never considered attractive by anybody. I never knew it could possible.

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but society, in general, does set some "norms" that we all subconsciously follow.

Yes but it’s not just society, or rather at all for me. There are certain features on men and women that our eyes are instinctively attracted to. I’m only speaking on physical appearance. The cheekbones and full lips or jawline and piercing eyes..

@Whitewulf maybe... but I wonder if what you are seeing as instinctive is the influence of what we are inundated with from birth and even imagery pushed upon us by modern marketing.

Just to be fully up front, I maybe biased since I have a degree in graphic design and have studied how marketing influences personal preferences while at the same time it is influenced by the sexual desires and habits of society.

I don’t know I have to disagree and I base it all on what I feel. If a beautiful girl walks by my body and mind immediately conclude that I’d like to sleep with her. And the opposite for a girl I don’t find attractive. I don’t even think about sex.
For example, now minus all the negative media or who her boyfriend is just on looks alone do you think that Magen fox is attractive? Especially ten years ago?

@Whitewulf no, I never found Megan Fox attractive. I like athletic to chubby/thicc women that are of mixed or latina skinned tones. Culturally I didn't grow up around women who looked like Megan Fox. I grew up in Black and Mexican communities. While I am a dark toned Black guy. I grew up surrounded by mixed Black women and Latinas so that is what I am most attracted to. My children on the other hand grew up living in White communities and their boyfriends and girlfriend reflect the society they were exposed to most during their formative years. The same with my cousins who are my age but grew up in White neighborhoods. Though they are Black, they have all married White or Hispanic people.

Also, there have been studies on facial beauty and body proportions in America that we study in graphic design school. The results show that statisticly average Americans prefer a somewhat narrow ratio facial and body proportions on general. And what's most fascinating is that trends can be set by celebrities to define what beauty is in America. So while I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I believe that society influences the outcome of what we individually view as beautiful.

No anonymous said it, most men including myself either are attracted to the girl or not. I hate to use the word ugly but if I’m completely not attracted to a certain girl where there is not even a hint of looks for me., no matter how funny she is or intelligent or could love every hobby I do, whatever, it’s not going to make me anymore attracted to her. Men are just too visual.
