My parents started hating me when my niece became a crackhead?

When my niece started becoming a loser and acting out and disrespecting the family my parents turned on me because they wanted her to be better than me in life. My parents told me it's my job to help my older sister with her family and now I'm moving to new york to go to law school and I'm getting married in london. Why do my parents have a problem with me and why are they comparing me to a 15 year old? Why do I have to help her and she doesn't respect or like me? My niece hates me.
