Why do you think people associate height with attractiveness?

No. At least I don't.

Some of the hottest women on film are between 5' and 5'4". Even "Bond" girls are only 5'6" or 5'7".

The fashion industry chooses tall women for reasons other than sexiness.
1. Tall, thin women are willowy; statuesque.
2. They stand out from the crowd on a catwalk and draw attention from a distance. Shorter people, it’s believed, are simply more likely to be overlooked.
3. Models are, for all intents and purposes, somewhat of a mannequin when it comes to showing off products. The use of taller (and thinner) models is meant to have a “hanger” effect — basically, showing off what the clothes would look like if you were to find them on a hanger in a store. With shorter (and curvier) models, this look becomes harder to achieve.
4. The taller the model, the more likely they are to look confident in the clothing they are wearing, embodying the phrase “standing tall.”
5. It’s much easier for designers to create clothing that is all the same size and then find people who can fit them rather than finding the model and then altering the clothing. It can save designers a whole lot of time and money.

But, instead of tall, thin, and waif-like, a lot of men prefer women with breasts, curved hips and plump, round asses. And a shorter girl with those assets is highly desirable.
Plus, tall models tend to have gaunt, masculine facial features while normal girls have cute facial features. I, personally, find cute to be the most attractive.

Then there is the height difference problem. Men tend to prefer women who are shorter than them and women prefer men who are taller than them.
The height difference between the average man and women is about 5". (The average height of American women is 5'4". Men's average height is 5'9".)
To meet that height difference with a 5'11" woman, a man would have to be 6'4".
Only 0.77% men are over 6'4".

Good height implies proper nutrition and therefore health. With men it also makes them look stronger and that's a clear advantage for someone who's supposed to be a protector. But when it comes to models, I think it's just because it makes it easier to show of clothes and being tall naturally makes a person look skinnier (and vice versa, a person who's extremely skinny will seem teller than in reality).

People only associate height with attractiveness when it comes to guys. The fashion industry is dictated by gay men. They like women who are taller and with more angular features. Lots of men have stated that they're not attracted to models. Most of them do look boyish.

I think the answer is different depending on whether you're talking about men or women. Since you mentioned Victoria's secret models, which are women, I'll respond as to why I think women find tall women models attractive and why marketers use them as a tool to sell their products.

Victoria's secret models are obviously recruited because they appeal to women, not necessarily men. They are marketing their product to women.

Tall, slim, female models have traditionally been used to market products to women. So the question is why.

I think there are two aspects. First, they are slim. Slim signifies healthy and healthy is generally attractive to men by nature. A healthy mate is naturally attractive to a man as relationships between males and females are by nature about mating and having healthy offspring. So the marketers of the products are subliminally telling women that "you will look slim and healthy to men if you buy our product."

Second, tall is associated with powerful. Women like to view themselves as powerful. One of the reasons they like this feeling is that by nature they feel they are not powerful because their physical stature and strength is less than a man's. So they have a natural sense of inferiority because of their inferior physical strength and stature. Tall models are good marketing tools because they give a woman the fantasy of physical power. If you buy their product you will feel physically powerful like a man. It fills a gap in there psyche.

I think this is the reason why marketers is tall slim models to market to women.

Taller is better for modeling clothes, I am trying to think how to explain it, there is more to work with as far as the angles of everything, I know that is a bad explanation but anyway tall is good for runway models.

Other than that it depends on the preferences and the height of whoever is judging, I would say typically more like 5-4 to 5-8 is a common height for girls who are viewed as hot in person but there are many examples both shorter and taller than that who are viewed as hot. Being in a room talking to somebody they look different than they look on a fashion runway on TV.

They don't. In fact it's rare to find someone who is tall and attractive.

But the myths and literature of "tall dark strangers" pervades most cultures and people assume health. When in fact tall people suffer poorer general health over their lifespan.

As for modelling, it's because they are easier to photograph and size up.

The height requirement for Victoria secret models never made sense for me. They should only have one rule for their models, which is atractivness and beauty on itself no mater their height, they should be fit and good looking. If you want to sent a positive image to people don't use super tall and skinny girls, use all heights and use healthy body images, not fat and not super thin.

Same goes for male models, they should use the avarage height for them

It is, for men, because tallness is a masculine trait, I don't see how it make a women more attractive, I am sure not into 5’9 women who are as tall as average man, and almost as tall as me, why would I want to date a woman who is looking like she is a trans.

I think it is because with it comes the ‘skinny’ body type which looks traditionally feminine, everything has a nicer fit, and it beings out her curves more & showcases her beautiful long legs, big breasts, and nice ass. At least that is my theory.

Yes, taller women tend to look more proportioned even if they aren't. Taller men are more desired by women period and have the same going for them. I had an old friend who was over 300 pounds of mostly fat at 6'8", but he looked pretty damned intimidating and pulled girls.

People are not the ones associating height with attractivness. Its nature favours height. Thats why animals fluff their feathers or furr when they are attacked to appear stronger and scare attackers. People who are biggers, tallers tend to be stronger and less likely to be attacked can run bigger distance with less effort reach things that are further. Height is power and strength

I love petite babes. But I would just say it's genetic programming. Which doesn't really make sense because a lot of MMA fighters that can kick anybody's ass or shorter, but it's our mammalian brain that tells us that somebody is taller they are bigger they are going to protect us better, if a woman is taller maybe she has wider hips and she's better for breeding.

There are many elements of modeling that benefit from height that are not necessarily important for attracting men into relationships (stage presence, gait, photogenic proportions, power charisma, etc.)

Therefore, the modeling industry does not suggest that female attractiveness is correlated with height.

I think they equate it with being well nourished. Like George Washington was 6'4" which was so much taller than that of the avg. European of the day. And they say on the avg. colonials were taller than most Europeans because the colonials were better fed.

So maybe it's unknowingly a survival trait.
