Trending & News Hard to say, just because I’d ASSUME Millenials, as the next youngest group, but then I hear Gen Z talking bad about Millenials. And that kind of tracks. When I was young and cool in the 90s, the worst thing you could do is look like you were from the 80s. Like that’s who our fashion trends were meant to go against. Short shorts and tall tube socks? Fuck that. We’re gonna wear knee-length shorts and low-cut socks. The rock music kids wanted to dress like Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder, not Axl Rose or Brett Michaels. Hair metal out, grunge music in.
I was reading something a while ago too, that confirms this. Gen Z thinks Millenials are corny, with the “Live, Laugh, Love” wooden sign on their wall, wearing a punny “wine mom” t-shirt, lmao. I think I’m too old and above the fray to fully get it, but I think looking like you’re from the 2010s is decidedly UNcool now. But the 00s are back in play, for style inspiration purposes.
Anyway, I’d say Millenials probably TRY second-hardest, but I remember my 30s was kind of my denial-of-aging period. I remember a younger coworker chirped me for wearing Madras shorts once, in like 2010, and I was thinking “these JUST came in style like 4 to 5 years ago.” I think that’s it…my 30s was when 4 or 5 years stopped being “a long time ago”, and became “just a couple years ago” in my perspective. My young Gen Z cousins told me that “2016 is out”, I’m just like “what was even the difference between 2016 and 2024?” But it’s apparently big, I’m just not tuned in enough to know anymore, haha.
I try to keep it up to date as a Gen Xer (or a Xennial if you want to make me feel younger, lmao), and we’re at a point where my old stuff is seeing a resurgence. I saw a kid at the supermarket a couple months ago who looked straight out of 1995, it was kind of surreal.
So now I’m just waiting for all my new millenial-approved clothes to fall out of favor😂
I'm not really sure, I'm generation X and I kinda don't care about fashion.
Thanks for the MHO
Among generations other than Gen Z, Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) have notably kept up with modern fashion and trends. Fashion-wise, they blend nostalgic elements with current styles, enjoying both comfort and individuality. With digital savvy, they often stay connected to emerging trends through social media. Millennials appreciate sustainability and unique fashion statements. 🛍️✨
Do gen z and millennials get on well do you think?
