No weirder than "trousers". LOL that word has always cracked me up. At least with panties I can sort of see the derivation of the word. Pants... panties... a cute little mini pants. Where the hell did trousers come from? Would panties be trousies? Hint, that one is Gaelic in origin. We can blame the Irish, LOL.

I call them panties sometimes so as to make the distinction between guys underwear. I've noticed panties are finer and somewhat smaller?
