u 5 mo1. The word "privilege" has acquired an unpleasant connotation over the past decade. It now means an advantage obtained by illegal or immoral conduct, for which the older owes compensation to those not having the privilege. If THAT'S what you mean by "beauty privilege," it is not real.
2. If you mean that people who are beautiful have advantages in many situations, you are right. But it is not the "fault" of beautiful people; are they supposed to make a dedicated effort to look less beautiful?
3. People who are taller have some advantages. People who are more athletic have some advantages. People who are smarter have some advantages. That's just the way it is!
4. Competition and survival/success for those most fit leads to desirable traits becoming more common in our species, to the extend that those traits are genetically determined. Why shouldn't people who are more beautiful, athletic, taller, or smarter have success in our species?

5 moYes, and bluntly put, anyone who says otherwise either doesn't have eyes or a brain.
The more attractive you are, the more opportunities you have in life. Period. You have more job opportunities. You have more dating opportunities. People listen to you more intently and take you more seriously. Your perceived value is greater as well even if your performance is the same.
Evidence from research shows that attractive people are often assumed to be more competent, moral, intelligent, and socially skilled. The pattern is known as the "halo effect".
Pretty privilege can show up in things like better customer service, more help from strangers, social invitations, free drinks, or being allowed to bypass rules or lines. It also affects court decisions, and leadership roles tend to be skewed towards more attractive people.
There are some downsides though. Attractive people may be seen as vain or less intelligent, or feel pressure to maintain their looks and live up to external validation. They also receive more objectification, and sometimes don't have their skills recognized because others say they have life on "easy mode", which honestly isn't a lie.
The same all applies to height privilege. Especially when it comes to men, the taller you are, the more social benefits you get. All of the above applies.30 Reply
5 moI won't exactly agree to that, I will say that someone who looks sharp will have more privileges. By sharp I mean someone who is well dressed, well spoken, fit, optimistic, clean teeth, smells nice, confidence and basically presentable. And it is easier for good looking people to look sharp.
So in a way beauty privilege is real but not unattainable for people. I have noticed that in my dad.
My dad in his times was average looking, skinny and short, he is like 5'2. But what he knew was talking and listening properly to people. He knew how to dominate the room without looking like an egoistic jerk and that attracted opportunities for him. As he earned money he invested in his clothing and it got him more opportunity and after marrying my mom, my mom ensured he wore clean ironed clothes all the time and made sure they didn't look repetitive. Due to this he started looking good and secure with himself.
Now he is 52, healthy with a plump belly and looks younger than his age and is really good looking, not actor-good looking but you can see him and not be drawn back due to anything. Maybe if he were conventionally good looking he would have achieved all of this 7 years early but he still got to this point from scratch.

5 moNo, it doesn't. I've been pulled over twice by the cops and got a ticket both times 😡 Obviously, I'm kidding lol Yes, pretty privilege is very real. I think if you would word your question differently and ask, "Are ugly people discriminated against"?, you would get a more honest answer by a certain person.

@Beckybooboo I got pulled over and there was a lady officer. She let me go with a warning, so who knows what she was thinking. Or, maybe she was just nice. Who knows?

Beauty privilege is definitely real. Society often values physical appearance, which can influence opportunities and perceptions. Attractive individuals might receive favorable treatment or have easier access to certain social or professional circles. It's important to recognize this bias and strive for inclusivity, ensuring people are valued for their talents and character rather than just looks. 💁āāļøāØ

I do agree this stems from a vary old survival and primal response. If you are good looking in the sense of the word. This would represent good genetics, good health excreta. For example This is why when you look good. say go to a bar and there is a line up. The door MAN see you and lets you in. This goes back to a subluminal reaction of the door MAN to pick you because of you have the looks that trigger the primal response. goes for girls also. Coles notes explanation but this is it

5 moIāve seen this question posted by a few other users including male users. The answer is yesā¦. Yes itās real. People would by lying if they said it isnāt. People tend to treat people they are attracted to betterā¦. And even if not attractive respectable looking. Such as older people who look letās say respectable.
But the flip side is that people generally are either really nice or really rude to attractive people. Itās a bad sign if people generally treat you indifferently⦠The other side of the coin is obviously unsolicited sexual attention by people that you donāt want it from. But also very rude behavior. So other women may be very jealous of you so they may be super bitchy and mean. Men can also display behavior if they feel like you would reject them as a way of rejecting you first.
Attractive people who work in the service industry get better tips⦠Get more stuff in restaurants itās more common to get preferred treatment. Faster service. Faster refills and being checked on. More likely to get comped stuff. More likely to get attention if you complain. You can walk out of gas stations with sodas and be told have a nice day.
People also generally talk to attractive people more often. Even for small things like asking directions.
10 Reply408 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Of course , I do I watch it all the time and I don't like it
That's why I always say to people that have no confidence is you need to find that confidence you need to believe in yourself and you need to project that you are beautifulweather you get privileged from it or not , you are still beautiful.
And it's\nOkay , if somebody gets treated different than you , because it just makes you stronger wiser , healthier and a better person , because you probably won't treat people like that10 Reply
5 moI do believe there's a world where you get more opportunities and more windows open up the prettier you are. I briefly experienced it back in 2015-2016 when I was the most pretty I've ever been. I had almost model-like features and was even asked if I modeled by quite a few people. But the older you get that goes away as your looks start to fade as you age.
23 Reply- 5 mo
I don't know, it's actually the opposite for me. The older I get, the better opportunities I get because of the beauty privilege.
- 5 mo
Well not everyone of course. Some people like you actually get prettier the older they get but it's more common that the looks start to fade in your 30s and 40s.
- 5 mo
@itsannalee Asian women tend to age better than a lot of other races. I have seen 40 year old Asian women who I thought were like 25 lol

m 5 mothe privilege, no... perception, yes
the same attractive person can get both hate and praise... favor or foes from different people
so no, it is not a privilege but a matter of perception22 Reply- 5 mo
Perception is exactly why beauty privilege exists. When many people consistently perceive certain traits as attractive, those people receive easier, kinder treatment on average. That repeated advantage is what makes it a privilege.
For example, we donāt treat butterflies and cockroaches the same, not because one is āgoodā and one is ābad,ā but because of how we instinctively perceive them. - 5 mo
yes, and I get that... and I agree with you
however, privilege is such a concept that would mean an advantage, a benefit, an special right and treatment that should stand above all other
the problem is that, it will not stand above other
attractive people often get discrimination, abuse, violence, prejudice and threats and also hate, a lot of it
so, when your "blessing" can turn into a "curse" in a split second... that's not so much of a privilege
the idea of privilege becomes a false perception
Its evidently real and it applies even wider to girls as you don't need to be a top 10% beauty for your looks to get you an advantage. Things like being able to use your sensuality / looks to get your way isn't going to be an option for someone who isn't pretty. Being able to get things / partners based on looks alone won't be a way. And generally people have a bias where if you are attractive to them and they could theoretically have a small chance of being with you they wish to put their best foot forward, while if they instantly dismiss you as unattractive they have no reason to do so.

ill ad. being a landlord. I've had pretty people as tenants. but they never last long... they non attractive people last longer... usually 6 months only for pretty ones. say 2. , one man one woman at separate times. both were really nice people. especually the man. he helped kids. and his mom. he was a stud by body. and looks. honest really nice guy. and im a guy... a lot other good looking people are not good people.. she was super pretty. and nice. real nice easy to talk to... she stayed a yr and half got me a replacement tenant. who stayed 5 years. til i had to evict him for not paying his rent... always ends badly... bad luck. doesn't happen to pretty people. thats real clear... most of us are not good looking and most of us have real bad luck...
5 moYes, it is real and every study has shown that it is. If you're attractive, you're more likely to get hired, you're more likely to get promoted, you're more likely to be treated better in the judicial system! More free drinks, people willing to help clean your gutters, work on your car... of course, the last three examples were more towards privileges women get. It's absolutely insane to say it doesn't exist.

Around here is is mostly old retired people that need ot keep working. there was a local convenience store that was taken over by somebody else. There was a really hot looking girl that worked there , It really seemed out of place. A few months later the place was raided by the local cops because they were selling drugs out of the place.
5 moYeah, it exist but it's greatly exaggerated.. Sure you get some perks in life because somebody might think you're pretty or handsome, but that depends on a decent amount of factors.. Beauty can be objective but it's also very subjective as well.. Pretty people often get jealousy and can get picked on as well..
00 ReplyAbsolutely. So everyone should try to look as good as much as they possibly can because despite what you see on instagram, the bar in real life is fairly low since a lot of people live a shitty lifestyle. And men you dont have to be gigantic muscle freak on gear. Lean is where its at. It'll accentuate your face a lot too (im starting to get hollow cheeks and a sharp jawline now. I dont even need a beard).

5 moIt is real.
Most of the men and women never have to worry about being alone if they are attractive. And they get what they want.
But unattractive people have to struggle for most things in life, better pay, someone to love and respect. Even if they are looking for a short term relationship they are normally starved.00 Reply- 560 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.

@Adam_INTJ We both have!!
I just saw video of some bimbo in Minn. crying about the woman that was shot 2 days ago and she said something about having white privilege. I'd like for her to tell me what those privileges are! - 4 mo
U saw a lot of white people below international beauty standards, so being white doesnāt make u automatically beautiful. If you donāt get beauty privileges, maybe because you arenāt enough.
People stepping on cockroaches and keep the butterflies not because they are bad or mot. But because they are beautiful and not.

5 moNo, generally it's bullshit. Everyone faces difficulties in life, very attractive people are not an exception. Being very attractive can open certain doors for you, however it can also close certain doors very fast too.
11 Reply- 5 mo
Privilege ā problem-free life. It means certain doors open more easily on average. Downsides donāt cancel that. No one is saying attractive people donāt face difficulties. Privilege doesnāt mean a life without problems. It means fewer barriers in specific situations.
