I believe people regardless of their genre just for being a human being have inherent dignity and value. However, I have noticed that over the past years, or maybe I'm just now more "in the real world" and have noticed people place a lot of importance on how a woman looks. Also, this has been more prevalent in women than men, at least from my experience.
I'm curious, from your view is it pretty privileged for women, should women invest a lot in their appearance? If so why?
There’s definitely a huge advantage to looking good, whether you’re a man or a woman.
People all around you will treat you better, pretty much always.
But, looks aren’t everything.
Yes, they play a huge role, but many other factors are at play as well when it comes to how one gets treated.
Subconsciously, we usually have a tendency to favor good-looking people.
Consciously, we usually have a tendency to favor good-behaving people.
Genuinely being a good person will always help you in life — people will want to connect with you, befriend you, collaborate with you, and help you.
Though, being good-looking as well, can give you an additional subconscious edge that can have a mild to huge effect on how you’re treated (depending on how superficial the person you’re interacting with is).
Should women invest time into looking good?
I’d say women AND men should take some time to look well-presentable.
But, also to not over-obsess.
For example, a great smile, firm handshake, and sharp outfit can definitely help someone land a job.
But, there are other, much more important factors, that would be the real determining factors as to why someone would pass or fail a job interview.
Women DO invest a lot in their appearance. They spend many times what men do on clothes, makeup, jewelry and other accessories and adornments, cosmetic surgery, etc.
This is definitely not something new, women have put far more attention into improving their appearance than men since ancient times and probably for the entire history of the human race. The only reason it may seem to be more prevalent in more modern times is that A. The human population is more prosperous than in the past so women have more to invest more in the things they want and more time to pay attention to it. B. There are a lot more things to improve a woman's appearance then there were in times past. More goods and options on the market, more technologies... more readily available ways to improve their appearance.
It is a natural instinct for women to want to improve and show off their appearance that comes from nature and millions of years of evolution. Like many other species of animals where one gender has special appearance such as bright colors which are designed to attract the other gender to induce mating, its a survival instinct in the human species that women have a desire to stand out to attract men to mate with. This explains things like why women want to wear bright colored clothing whereas men just wear drab colors.
So from nature's point of view, yes definitely, a more attractive woman is a more valuable women since survival of a species is probably the most critical natural agenda.
Placing emphasis on women’s looks is not something in the past few years. This has happened for literal centuries, it’s just a lot more well documented now that we have the internet. In fact, within the premise of being attractive, a woman has more freedom than ever to be attractive on so many spectrums, considering the beauty standard was universal up until the age of modern internet.
Women these days may seem like they put a lot more effort into their appearance, but the older generation did A LOT more. In fact, most didn’t even embrace off days or sweatshirt days. Now a days, if you can look good most of the time, you can get a pass on looking like a slob other days.
Pretty privilege is very prevalent and very real. I personally have no problems with it, and if you have it I whole heartedly think you should use it to get a better life. Having pretty privilege and not utilizing it is similar to being an inherited millionaire but choosing not to spend any of the money. Of course, being pretty isn’t the end all be all, but it gets you pretty damn far considering most girls who spend a considerable amount of time on their appearance choose not to develop a personality. In fact, while being pretty in regular society has perks, it has a LOT more drawbacks then being pretty in a more elitist society.
Pretty privilege is definitely a thing for both genders.
Beautiful men can pretty much get away with murder, and no one cares because they look so good. Most beautiful men suck in bed and are at kissing and are never corrected because women are just so happy to be there that they never correct them. They tend to lack as much character development because they get so many passes their whole lives.
For women it's different. Women tend to be treated more politely and pleasantly by strangers. Strangers go out of their way to say nice things and get their attention. People are more likely to give them more resources and less of a hard time.
At the same time, women get treated worse by other women for being too attractive. Men don't have that same issue. A woman who is beautiful will attract way more people, but most of them will be the wrong types of people. It's exhausting. When a woman is too pretty, she becomes a threat and people become afraid to approach her.
So, I think for women it's not worth the extra effort unless her job relies on looking beautiful.

Both men and women benefit from being physically attractive. They benefit from: better job opportunities and career advancement opportunities, better first impressions and people that take you more seriously; are more attentive to you, people tend to be nicer to you, you have more confidence in yourself, and your physical and mental health is usually better.
It's not necessary to change your appearance using fake stuff like lip filler or lip plumper and a ton of makeup. What's important is to stay fit for your health and body's appearance and to have good hygiene to prevent skin problems.
Are you asking can women sway guys with makeup? Because whether you want to invest a lot of time and money on makeup is up to you.
Society also places a lot of expectations on men as well in terms of fitness, occupational status, and social status. I learned long ago I'll never be able to meet a majority of peoples expectations. So I concern myself only with being fit enough to be healthy, rich enough to be financially secure, and social enough to not be labeled a recluse. And f*** what other people think of me. If what I am is not good enough that's fine. I can't afford their "freindship".👍
You're never going to reach a point in life where there aren't judgmental people. Only concern yourself with people's whose opinion you can respect. That's my philosophy.
It can make things easier but to be honest that is something I really hate about society so I have never put much effort into how I look. As for now that I am getting older I have been focusing on my looks and heath a bit more so I don't end up looking super rugged in 5 years lol.
No, because money only goes so far. A good haircut and well-fitting clothing is about all you need. Haircuts are expensive, but you can often find great clothing pretty cheaply at thrift and resale shops. My wife has a closet full of designer clothing and shoes all bought for about 20% of retail or less. Go to the places where rich people live -- you would be amazed what they donate.
If one woman puts on makeup, they all will. It's like giving an Olympic athlete shoes that make them run faster. If that person gets to have an incredible advantage in life, you bet the others will try it too. There is no 'should' about it, really.
Since pretty privilege is real, women WILL invest in their appearances. Whether that's good or bad is not for anyone to decide
i think we already do though for that exact reason... like most girls take a lot of care of themselves because we're pressured to because society thinks that if your a girl you need to be pretty

I am in academia and have seen male phd students doing work of the female students as per the instructions of professors as female students were busy with child/marriage. One professor took over the research of a guy and named a girl author as he was probably sleeping with her. It's just one type of scene.
Pretty girls gets almost everything for free , sex or without sex. From living to food , travel , work , attention , sex , relationships. That's how the society works.
