How do people use filters on videos to make themselves look better than they are?

I have watched a few videos about photoshop, and gimp. I even came across one video that talked about girls using filters to make themselves look better in a video. Honestly doing this kind of stuff has not interested me enough to try and learn how to do it. I prefer to be REAL with everyone, and I want the people I watch and interact with to be REAL too.

Lately my interest in how people use filters to make themselves look better in video form has increased, because I have seen lots and lots and lots of girls on youtube, that look too perfect. Their skin seems to be too perfect. The hair seems to be too perfect. The body shapes, even though they are not all the same, looks perfect for what they are. I am wondering if they are using some kind of video filters and warpers to create this image. I know this has been going on longer than the AI boom, that many of us seem to be hating lately.

When it comes to making a picture look perfect, I get it. Sure you can take your time on a photo editor and make some adjustments. But it seems to me that it would be harder to do that in a video. But I am not up on all this video editing stuff. Any video I have ever done, was just try to make the lighting as good as I could, and focus the best I could. Nothing more or less. Any edits I did afterwards was just clipping some stuff out to make it shorter or maybe sound better.

If you can fill me in on what these people might be doing to make themselves look awesome, I would like to know. I am also curious about, does it take them hours do it? Or is it so simple that they just click a button, and it does it?

These are all videos I found on this subject. After watching them, I'm convinced what girls are doing with filters is not good for me or even women.
