Isn't it hypocrisy? They are misleading the people. I don't have any problem with the girls who wear make up or use filters in photos but why are they so insecure? They try too hard to be....
Why do girls use filters in photos if they are already wearing make up?
I think this whole "makeup and filters are deceptive" thing is bs. Nobody gets criticized because their hairstyle is deceiving people about what their real hair would look like. Or because deodorant is deceptive about their natural scent. Or because well tailored clothes, or clothes in general, are deceptive about their natural skin color and body shape. Why is makeup that much different?
Besides, the main reason women want to wear these things is to conform to the impossibly high beauty standards society has set for them. And I've gotta say, setting those beauty standards and then criticizing women for trying to conform to them is an awful lot like tripping someone and making fun of them for falling.
And what business is it of yours if women prefer the way they look with makeup on or with a filter? Isn't that their own choice? Why are you criticizing them for living their life how they see fit?

I guess, but at the same time, its been normalized in today's time. Women have accepted the fact that the fashion world uses painting techniques on faces and photoshop for other imperfections. They are just doing it themselves now, instead of it only being for models and celebrities. It might be easier to convince guys, that pictures these days give a false impression than trying to convince girls not to use industry "secrets" in their daily selfie...
Filters are for enhancing photos in general. That's why you've got people using filters on pictures of food, sceneries, buildings, etc, and not just of people. It's not to enhance one's face but to enhance the photo as a whole.
Ehh.. I wouldn't say it's because of anxiety or low self-esteem or anything like that. You could say that about photoshop but not filters. Most of the time, it really is just purely to enhance the photo. It's more to set a mood than anything - if you want it to look more vintage or vibrant or mellow or cool, etc.
I don't know what your definition of hypocrisy is, but it's definitely not that. You could say fake, but even then filters are applied on the whole photo and not just on certain parts, so even if the skin color or eye color or anything on the person changed, you'd still know the true color of it because your eyes naturally relate it to the background.
Filters make a picture look more polished. That's the trend now. stop being prude. I get some people are deceptive but that's with or without makeup and filters.
I don't wear makeup most of the time. And I seldom use filters. That said, I don't see what the big deal is. Wearing makeup and using filters doesn't make you insecure. If I do use a filter, 9 times out of 10 it's to lighten the picture. That one other time is usually a "I feel like this would be better as a black and white pic" or a "hey, this filter makes my picture glow. Cool" thing. I don't think anyone puts on makeup or uses a filter with the sole intent to "mislead the people."
if I use a enhancers for photos it's because I think it looked cool, or added and effect that made the picture look better /not so plain, I don't use it to make myself look better or anything of the sort. just for photography purposes.
I like playing around with it but some girls use it for other reasons maybe to look prettier or slimmer or more makeup or something else I just fooling around with it.
