Why do girls put on makeup?

Makeup is basically items and tools used to enhance and bring out one's features. It's been worn for several purposes throughout history: for worship, for medical purposes or protection, for status and extravagance, and obviously for beauty, it's been influenced by society, religion, politics, war, and
technology. There were times when both men and women wore makeup, and there were times when even women were not allowed to wear makeup, but in such situations women always found the sneakiest way to enhance their appearance and use homemade items on their face that was just enough to enhance them but it was undetectable as makeup to the public.

Makeup always had a natural presence in ever civilization.

I use makeup like someone that would be painting a picture... my face=canvas, paint=makeup, portrait=beautiful piece of art. I use it to create an image of what i think sexy is, reflecting the mood i am feeling which also goes with an outfit and hair. For me its a process when i do do my makeup, but i also dont wear it everyday like most girls maybe 2 -3times a mo... i either am 100%done up or 100%natural no semi wear for me.

To be prettier, to look like someone they like, they saw someone having a cool make up and wanted to recreate it, someone force them to put make up on (their work, family, boyfriend, friends etc...)

They put on makeup to cover their face, the same way they SAVE FACE when it comes to their vapid personalities. They're a walking LIE from physical to mental to emotional. They never tell the truth. Makeup accentuates positive features and helps hide flaws. It can be a “mask” you wear to give you confidence and make you feel better about yourself. It also becomes a bit of a hobby to find different looks and styles.

Well most of the time (I'd say 90%?) it's def for themselves.
Maybe it's because they think it's fun or they like makeup or maybe it makes them feel more confident?
I wear eyeliner a lot cuz I think it's a cute thing. That's about it.
