At 48 she's in menopause. No hormones.
His testosterone, if he takes care of himself, might surpass the average consumer boy half his age.
Hormone replacement would restore a lot of physicality to her. The spiritual implication of physical pinning down of the process that is supposed to serve departing from matter and slowly into the spirit realm, can be countered if she willingly cultivates moral outlook and higher worlds' knowledge. ㅤ
Some men age better than most women. But some women can look amazing at 50 or 60. A big factor in our perception is that women get scrutinized much more harshly than men as they age.
While a guy becomes "weathered and tough" the same sort of aging in a woman is perceived as "worn and tired". Gray hair on a man looks "distinguished" while gray hair on a woman looks "old". Wrinkled scarred hands on a man are "manly". While wrinkles and scars on a woman are called "damaged". Those are societal biases that are pushed on us that many people are not even aware of. You can thank marketing for a lot of that. But some of it is the result of people not taking care of themselves over a lifetime or losing interest in making an effort, being beaten down over a lifetime.
No, I think it’s the opposite. Especially when they start going bald.
Maggie Gyllenhaal looked like an old hag even when she was young.
You’re noticing a mix of biology, styling, and social pressure there 😂
Men don’t literally “age slower,” but: estrogen loss in women (especially after 35–40) speeds skin thinning and wrinkles, while men keep more collagen longer. Women also face harsher beauty standards, often less forgiving lighting, makeup, and comparisons.
Plus, Jake’s styling, grooming, and maybe cosmetic help all play a role.

No, I don't think men age slower than women. But women are under continuous scrutiny, be it models, actresses or just in about any professional setting.
How many roles are there in the movie industry for actors like Michael Douglas, Sean Connery, Kirk Douglas, Robert Duvall? I'd say plenty. How many roles are there for female actresses over 60? Very few.
Let's not forget that men tend to die younger than do women.
I died a couple of times two years ago.
I was brought back.
That being said, my wife very recently passed away, having been diagnosed with brain cancer a few very, very short weeks after my little journeys to the other side.
We were the same age.
Other commenters here have already spoken of the obvious; societal expectations and biology.
You mentioned your wife in that other opinion about what "love" is. You are correct, if you cannot do it when you're both really really old, then it isn't love. Old age serves as a smoothing bridge for after life, so that we don't have to spend a long time purging our burning desires with no body to fulfill them. Since you have developed strong love in old age, there's not going to be much of a "purgatory" or "kama loka" where desires eat you alive before transition to higher realms.
under the same conditions, men do age slower than women
if men and women changed roles where men had to stay home, raise the kids or do air-conditioned jobs and women had to be outdoors doing physically demanding jobs in the harsh weather, women would age significantly more than men
No, men don't age more slowly, but we judge women's aging more harshly. The rate of apparent aging depends on genetics and habits. If you don't want to look old prematurely, avoid tobacco, the sun, drugs, and maintain a healthy weight.
No. Women and men are just viewed differently by society. Lines on a guy is viewed as making him more distinguished and the assumption is he's more experienced, seasoned. Because men EARN their value over time. Conversely, (at least in a sexual way) women are handed their value after puberty. And the assumption is it decreases as they age. This is why I stipulated "sexual value". Because a GOOD WOMAN never loses value.
It's because men are better than women.
That guy look like he's about 52, and that woman looks like she's about 67. They both look old for their age, but she's obviously falling apart faster.
Aging heavily depends on people's genetics, but other things affect it as well, such as stress, substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, etc.) and if they frequently exercise or not.
Men don't age slower than women, and men generally die sooner. However age looks better on men.
I think people notice it more on women because women's looks are a much more prominent issue with most people.
Yes they do age Slow it’s just the stress that catches up to them
No, it's all individual, not gender related.
I don't think so. Also women in general take better care of their skin than men.
So many factors to consider.
Those 3 years make a big difference.
I think Maggie has lived a lot harder than Jake.
No, they go bald and grow beer bellies.
it's not a gender thing
We all age differently
BAHA males go bald
