Why do women age like milk and men age like wine?

Well, I'm black and um, we don't age like that. Black don't crack. I find that Asian people age well also. Black people often carry a gene (I think?) and more melanin that prevents us from aging harshly, not sure what's it's called but you can look it up. As much as I would prefer not to use a Buzzfeed link, here is a nice list. www.buzzfeed.com/.../23-celebs-who-prove-that-black-dont-crack
But flaws regardless of that in this question, you used one man who has aged well. That doesn't sum of the whole male population. Stretch before you reach, honey. Have you SEEN John Travolta? He's an American tragedy.
Really aging comes down to a few things.
1. Taking care of yourself, if you're a celeb still getting roles, you probably eat well and work out, plus a little plastic surgery. As far as everyday people, just basic skin care, stay out of the sun, some people don't care about that at all.
2. Having kids really does make a difference, it takes a toll on you for sure
3. Women tend to gain more weight as they age, but having weight in your face isn't necessarily a bad thing. Men have thicker skin.
4. Women have higher standards for beauty and we are heavily critiqued on it, we are supposed to act like our hair doesn't get grey or something. Most men can get away with some grey hair and extra belly.
Everybody is different. Some people age beautifully, some people are like fruit. It just depends. The list of example is endless.
Also, the woman you paired with Tom, looks like she had no idea the photo was being taken and was minding her business, Tom was obviously on a red carpet
You can find examples for either, come on.

I don't think men generally age well it's just that women are more accepting of the signs of aging. But if you step outside in the real world for a minute and look around how many men in their 40s and 50s do geniunley look attractive, you'll see that there aren't many
U literally chose bad pictures of them while they're making faces or not ready for the pic. It's not a fair comparison
@cheeseNwine as did he. That was the point
That being said look up how those two guys look now and they really are a mess and very far from attractive, let alone attractive as he used to be. A lot of guys say Brad Pitt when they want to make an example of older men still being attractive. And I mean for someone in his 50s he looks ok but considering he used to be pretty much perfect I don't think he aged well at all.
www.celebplasticsurgeryonline.com/.../...tured.jpg
s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/.../...cc36fcf2de.jpg
Now imagine someone who didn't start out looking as indecently handsome as young brad pitt.
If you're geniunley think men age like wine you're fooling yourself
he got married. stresed him out
also, the quetion is why men age better and they generally do and its testosterone man
it keeps us leaner for longer.
@cheeseNwine No men generally don't age better. And there has been some research on it and if anything it shows that men age marginally worse.
www.aging-us.com/article/YuBicQuadoRwwvpTu/text
Men die younger for once. That should be your first clue. And yes sure some of that is due recklessness but men also die more often of diseases of age. Men's hearts especially do not age well.
The only area in which you might have advantage is skin, because women's skin is thinner and hence more prone to damage. But even that advantage will nullified by men generally not taking as much of themselves as women
Higher testosterone has little to do with it. In fact higher testosterone causes balding. And for women it's estrogen that keeps you young looking not testosterone
wrong, men definitely age better than women, its an established fact. Deal with it nothing you say can change that fact.
first we need to separate the issue of lifespan vs how long you look young/attractive, women have longer lifespans partly due to living less physically demanding lives on average but also due to being smaller and their bodies requiring less energy, short people live longer than tall people on average due to this as well. Women make use of medicare more than men on average as well. But all this ammounts to is that women on average has a few more years in their twilight where they are too old to do anything productive.
But that has no bearing on the fact that men remain functional and in their prime longer than women do. We have thicker skin as you mentioned which is significant, and we dont need makeup to look good either (which damages the skin) Men also deal with stress much better than women and stress is not good for longevity.
@alphadoggystyle I disagree, aging is just slowing dying. And men everywhere die faster, you can't just dismiss that.
If your body requires more energy than mine and you die faster than me because of that, you're still not aging as well as me. Contrary what you seem to think, aging is more than just looks
The one link you posted was from a woman that is selling face exercise plans? And it just really underlines what I already said, in terms of skin men have marginal advantage. But again there is more to aging than just skin
No, men don't use make up, doesn't mean they don't need it. It's just a cultural norm. And yes I agree commercial cosmetics are terrible for your skin but not moreso than junk food or little exercise to which men are more prone to. So let's say we're even there
" Men also deal with stress much better than women and stress is not good for longevity" and yet men die faster. What does that tell. Men do in fact
not deal better with stress
www.huffingtonpost.com/.../...study_n_3579735.html
psychcentral.com/.../5196.html
Though if you said men generally expierence less stress in their life, I'd believe that, but you didn't.
it doesn't matter if you disagree, you're factually wrong. period. Men everywhere in the world live harsher lives, and lifespan is dependent on celldivision and telomeres, which is not representative of how well you are able to perform during your youth. A handicapped person (even those who where born handicapped) may sometimes live longer than a completely healthy person, so trying to make a correlation like that is stupid and wrong. Men die faster due to harscher lifestyle and expending more energy by being bigger, but the plus side to that is that we are able to perform at a higher level for a longer period of time compared to women, and we look better for a longer period of time as well. Women have a smaller time-window in their prime, its fact.
this thread was mainly about looks, but thats not even debatable men age better in terms of looks than women, due to our thicker skin, and 25% more skincells is significant so it is not "marginal" , its a huge advantage. And when it comes to performance, women may last slightly longer but when you look at efficiency, men come out on top. A car that can drive as fast as 210 mph for 8 years, is more efficient compared to a slow car that drives 80 mph for 10 years. Men die earlier but age more efficiently considering how much more productive we are on average compared to women.
most men dont need makeup, in most cases it makes a man look worse or even "gay/metrosexual", many women would not want to date a guy who uses makeup. And no, the small difference in the ammount of fast food or how much we exercise between men and women does not compare to the difference the heavy use of makeup most women use compared to almost no men, so thats not even, its a big advantage to men as well.
I already told you why men die earlier than women on average, and it has nothing to do with stress. Men do in fact deal better to stress than women do:
www.dailymail.co.uk/.../...ormones-react-them.html
And dont even try to argue that women have more stressful lives than men, thats false, men work more hours on average than women do, take less time off and have shorter vacations etc, work more overtime and less part-time. The reason women feel more stressed than men on average is because they get stressed out more easily, and the symptoms they get from stress are worse, such as depression and post traumatic stress disorder which is much more common in females. The reason men get more heart problems is because they more often deal with stress by drinking and eating more unhealthy food, so the heart problems aren't directly caused by stress.
or even "gay/metrosexual"
But what makes someone look gay? It has nothing to do with biology it's clearly a learned norm. Most actors wear make up routinley and last I checked they don't have trouble getting laid
Did you actually read the article you linked? Because the headline is clickbait. There's no research there just anecdotal evidence at best
"heavy use of makeup most women use "
https://www.reactiongifs.com/r/oplz.gif
Do you really think most women put on a full kim kardashian face of make up everyday. Most women mascara and not much else on a daily basis. Maybe foundation and highlighter when they go out.
Whereas a lot single men rarley see vegetables
"And dont even try to argue that women have more stressful lives than men" I wasn't but feel free to keep arguing with yourself
so that was the one comment you decided to argue against? thanks for finally admitting that you lost, something which you have failed to do in the past.
The more effeminate a man looks, or the more traits he share with women, the more gay he looks, at least this is how we have defined it in modern society even though a gay person can look like any type of male, they often tend to look effeminate at least in how they groom theirselves compared to how most straight males do.
Dont even mention actors, actors and famous guys regardless of how they look can get hot women easily due to their status and wealth. So makeup on them won't matter, i guess it makes them more photogenic with makeup on. when i said heavy use of makeup i meant in terms of how often they use it, many even put it on when going to shop groceries. And it has an effect regardless on the skin.
I dont know what you mean with "single men rarely see vegetables" but sounds like nonsense so il ignore that.
i posted 3 comments in my previous response due to the low character space. and you ignored the facts i used to prove that men age better and more efficient than women, which i interpret as you admitting you lost. not that it matters wheter you admit it or not.
and i didn't repeat what you said but at this point it seems you are either drunk or trolling.
nah you didn't, you ignored majority of the content of my previous comments. And you're wrong yet again, men dont believe what suits them, we believe what the facts say, while women including you only believe what you want to believe regardless of how many times you are proven to be wrong. And i definitely proved you wrong with those articles i posted. You got wasted/rekt/destroyed here.
And nope, its not a lie. Its a fact that men age like wine, and that women age like milk. deal with it.
@alphadoggystyle You mean the first article from a facial exercise website and the second that states the opinion a therapist?
In comparison to the ones I posted which reference actual research. Ya... right
Wine gets better as it ages. If you've ever left your house it should be obvious that men their 40s and 50s are not more attractive than men in their 20s and 30s. And the same of course is true for women. It's just normal. To imply that men actually get more attractive in their 40s, 50s and 60s... up until they die is just insane. If you geniunley believe that, you should go talk to someone about that
The links i posted had sources from actual research done, and the studies are all over the internet i just picked the first one that came up to save time, but it is common knowledge, one of your studies on stress was based on Mice and not fully representative of how humans work, and the other only focused on a very small part of the topic of stress, while men overall deal much better with stressful situations since we get stressed out less often. Your aging article basically confirmed what i said, that the main reason for the lower lifespan is due to muscle hypertrophy in males, ie larger stronger more productive bodies, as well as living under harder conditions, which is why many men die young due to accidents etc. So yes i proved you wrong.
men in their 40s and 50s are still attractive to quite a lot of 20-30 year old women, especially if these men have a above average job and kept somewhat in shape. Majority of women in their 40s or 50s are completely unattractive to men of young age as well as many men of similar age, some women can still be decently attractive if they had succesful plastic surgery but it is uncommon, and most men would still rather go for a younger woman because we know of fertility problems in older women and that at that age their looks can disappear at any time very soon. So yes men do age like wine, and obviously men in their 60s dont look good anymore, but can still be attractive to women with their wealth such as donald trump and hugh hefner. Women cannot do the same thing. The saying is just meant to point out that men factually age better than women, not that we improve in looks all the way to the deathbed, but only a moron would take it so literally as you did.
Uh... maybe white people do, but have you seen Gabrielle Union? Shaun Robinson? Stacey Dash (Even though I don't like her) and Naomi Cambell? Angela Basset? Jada Pickett Smith? Tamara Taylor? Hell, even Michelle Obama looks exactly like she did when she graduated college.
Yeah, no, that's not the case for all women lol. Just the white ones.
Bring oooooooooon the down votes, idgaf, I speak truth :p
@RainbowFanGirl Is this truth or naw? Hahaha
Ewww id rather be a 18 year old
@Elarra
Gina Torres too, though I think it's an exaggeration to say any one of them looks the same as they did 20 years ago they do age much better than most white women. But then again Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Will Smith have aged even better than any of those women (compare pictures from when they were the same age), so in the end men still age better than women.
you're right
God wanted to make men feel better about not being able to get it up anymore by making their wives uglier with age. Why else?
This should get MHO!
@JohnDoe3000 Thanks booboo. :P
Lol we run the world. Discover new lands and all that lol
@cheeseNwine With wet noodles.
love wet noodles. delish!
@cheeseNwine Lmao.
should try pho. shit you're canadian!!
we are the best!

This statement isn't entirely true... sure, lots of guys age well but same with woman; look at J-lo. I think guys and girls mostly age about the same with a few exceptions but we view it as guys who age better because girls like older guys while guys like younger girls. When guys get older, girls still are attracted to them because of the look of maturity and wisdom while guys look at an older girl as loose and wrinkly.
Guys are all about looks while girls are all about the type of guy you are... and looks help too haha. Although guys like a good personality as much as any woman would... we still take looks into account.
I hope this helped
Yeah this rule is only for white women.
In general, black people of both genders age very good.
Now Asian women often look 16yrs old when they are 30.
Opinion
43Opinion
Oh please...
I've seen plenty of women who've aged incredibly well and plenty of men who've aged horribly. It comes down to a combination of lifestyle (diet, exercise) and genetics.
The whole "men age better than women" thing is complete bullshit. How many me do you know who've started balding by age 30? You think that shit's attractive? Or the giant fuckin beer bellies most men have by 40? Nah bro. Society just doesn't hold men to nearly the same standard as women.
my ex started balding and he was 22.
nope, its an established fact that men age better than women. deal with it.
yes it is.
Supposedly women's skin is thinner and structured differently that makes it more prone to damage and things like cellulite. I also think men have an easier time keeping in shape as they age. That's not to say that we actually take advantage of that though.
Another factor is that women's attractiveness is largely based on "soft features/fatty tissues" such as firm perky breasts, smooth skin, an ass with the right ammount of fat, and soft curves. These are things that can't really be mained with exercise.
Mens attractiveness on the otherhand is largely based on lean muscle. I believe it is easier for men to maintain lean muscle with age than it is for women to maintain the right balance of fat while keeping their skin/breast/ass firmness.
The one thing that really fucks men over in terms of looking young is receding hairline/baldnes. That's pretty much the equalizer, but if that were cured I would definitely say men can maintain their looks longer.
Because of hormones. After menopause, the secreted hormones change. This leads to a change in fat storage, from the boobs, butt and hips to the stomach, arms and chin. The breasts tend to go saggy with age as well. Most women wear make-up, whih isn't great for the skin in the long run.
Men's sex hormones get releaed throughout their entire lives, they naturally store less fat then women, dicks don't sag and grey hair on guys can look super good.
Lol, that's a lie. Men don't age better than women. If you ask me, it's pretty equal. Also, not to put race into things, but I have to agree with some others about the type of race that ages badly. If you notice, all you put was a bunch of white women that aged badly, but didn't put any other races. You have to take that into account.
nope, its not a lie. Men do in fact age better than women in general.
It's a battle you can't win, but age is better, when you are older, when your actions
reflect your age. reason for you getting wrinkled no matter what age is because
you must've treated someone like dirt, been spoiled, selfish, mean or resentful.
Those kind of behaviors ensue punishment, if you "dumb-down," or say, "double-
down," with the "script of America," kiss butt, admit you are wrong, when someone wrongs you instead of fighting it and defending yourself every time, you live longer. key to successful young age at 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 is to ignore your
problems and yourself, focus on others, ignore how you act and just be successful.
We age better because we have more testosterone most of our lives. We have less body fat and it's easier for us to keep it off due to our testosterone fueled metabolisms. We are also expected to provide for the ladies so they can sit back and get fat. They usually don't have to chase a mate down and are used to being catered to and flattered. When this entitlement disappears around 30 when their looks start to slip, they are married with children or not married, many fall into depression and get fat trying to comfort themselves with all their favorite carbohydrates. Men have to work to get a mate and are "chosen" so they need to keep up their appearances. We also get kicked to the curb more often than they are so we have to constantly keep ourselves in better shape for the chase. We also deal better with stress than women and is shows after 30 years or so...
Well what you think about Jennifer Aniston? She's 47

men literally have thicker skin, they produce more collagen, and it's believed that shaving their faces might help as well since it's a light exfoliation. And ya know, fewer standards about aging for men, like salt and pepper hair is attractive, while on women it's seen as being unkempt
Ur forgetting terstosterone that keeps us leaner
I love this question.
It's a few things happening.
Women tend to mature quicker and early than men. Women look their best, ages 16-28.
This is because, evolution needed women to reproduce as early as possible.
Men tend to age better because, of how we are built.
We really don't finish maturing until around 25.
A few other things include: genes, diet, and health.
Well a lot of black women age well. I'm just gonna throw that out there. But I think aging is linked to fertility. Men can still produce children for far longer than women can.
Hmm i think the face shape plays a big factor. If the person has a good shape, they can still look good.
What makes girls pretty is their nice smooth and clear skin which holds the feminine beauty and if that would disappear, they'd look less feminine. Whereas guys have masculine looks they don't need to have rosy cheeks to be attractive.
My grandma is very beautiful and my grandpa is not too handsome but i can say above average but as they age, it seems like my grandpa aged less.
Wow I can't believe this, these are isolated incidents, I have seen a lot of men that look way older when they are like thirty, my mom is 60 and looks like 38 no kidding, but she takes Bioidentical hormones, since she was 38, and consequently never aged. So, it is how you take care of yourself and make sure you see an anti aging doc like my mom did when she was 38, she is really beautiful no wrinkles and doesn't use Botox. And my mom is from Barcelona, Spain, blue eyes, dark hair all her cousins are blonde blue eyed and still look hot too!!!
That is an age old question that I've never seen or heard an viable answer for. The only answer I can give that I know to be true is that God made us and had a reason. If our damn society wasn't so enamored with staying young and women maintaining the beauty of their youth, we would all be better off.
You could only compare that by getting a twin brother and sister and watching how they age since They'd have the same genetics. Plus men can loose weight easier than women. It's within the BMW rate. The less body fat you have, then the chances of your skin sagging gets are much less likely
Because of how we are naturally built. Men are expected to be masculine at a young age, achieving "adulthood"/maturity. Of which immediately implies haggard, scruffy, rough characteristics, implying strength. Whereas a woman, at a young age learns beauty is her place and person, thereby inevitably bringing a time for her youth and "beauty", before age sets in and does the same as to a men.
Actually, they don't. You only posted some specific people. According to my observations most men age with beer bellies, their hair falling out and wrinkles everywhere. It's the same for both genders.
Wrinkles don't look nearly as ugly on men, many men don't lose their hair and even if they do they can be bald and still attractive, beer bellies can be fixed with diet and exercise. Nothing can fix the effects of menopause on a woman's appearance though.
Almost all the ugly old men I've seen have either always been ugly or they could be handsome if they took care of themselves, meanwhile the women are victims of nature's cruelty (though some would say it's karma since women had their moment at age 15-35).
nope, you're wrong, men definitely age better than women, its fact.
I only notice men saying that. Women are supposed to judge the attractiveness of men better due to the fact that they are the opposite gender. Men may think that they age better, but that is not the case. I could post numerous examples of women ageing better than man, but that wouldn't prove anything, just like you posting examples of men ageing better than women still wouldn't prove anything at all.
People who exercise and eat healthy usually don't age as bad. But it has nothing to do with gender.
Women say one thing and then do another, if you asked all women and all men what type they have of the opposite gender, then the men that the majority of women chose would be 30+, and many cases even in their 40s. And this is just based on looks before we take into account that women are attracted to resources/wealth. The vast majority of men would have chosen women between 18-25 as their ideal choice.
And then we have the actual science of our biology. Men have more collagen in the skin, and thus our skin lasts longer. And women have slower metabolism so they tend to put on weight much more easily as they age compared to men who have much more testosterone which helps a lot in terms of burning fat.
Exactly why I never fuck anyone over 45 anymore (with 16-24's getting to the front of the line) no matter how old I get. Most women age like milk due to letting themselves go and having kids, with diet, exercise/yoga and lots of plastic surgery by a skilled surgeon they could age like wine too.
SOME men. You left out Val Kilmer...
www.20secondes.buzz/.../val-kilmer.jpg
Its from all their lies and bad intentions catching up with them >:D
Nah thats a joke i know at least one person is still gonna reply to this -_-
I think some men age better than some women and some women age better than some men
Example... shakira is still beautiful and george clooney is still a stud
They don't always. But they are biologically less prone to weight gain, plus things like wrinkles don't interfere with masculine beauty ideals as much as they do with our ideals of feminine beauty.
First things first, the skin composition of Males tend to have more collagen than females do, secondly men don't wear makeup... well majority of them don't lol and makeup has a substantial amount if chemicals that some have been proven to cause harm to the surface of the skin
I think no matter if your male or female it all depends on one takes care
of them self on whether you age lot. I got a cousin age 40 and they thought
she and her mother was sisters. They had no idea that my cousin age 40 was
the daughter, it's due to my cousin living a rough life or drinking, eating fast food
not taking care of her self. I believe cigarette smoking ages people and people
who suntan too much they wrinkle early in life but that goes for men or women.
*of drinking, eating fast food
not taking care of her self. I believe cigarette smoking ages people and people
who suntan too much they wrinkle early in life but that goes for men or women.
Some women age well... some men don't. It's not a blanket thing. You're basically using isolated examples here.
Also... I'm 30... I'll be 31 in January... so... yea.
in general men age better than women do due to biology, we have more skin cells than you do. But women can in some cases compete slightly with the help of surgery and makeup, but even that often fail.
I really agree with you, it really upset me, when they put Tom Cruise next to Kelly McGillis, I am thinking really, I have seen so many fat, balding men in their forties. Then the racial thing is all wrong, my mom is Caucasian, dark hair blue eyes, and she started taking bioidentical hormones when she was younger, and never went through menopause, in turn, she looks, well like 40. I really agree with you. It isn't a racial thing either, that got my goat. It is all how you take care of yourself, and your genes. I am so glad you put your post up!!!
Yeah no I don't think that's a thing.
But people who take care of their skin & lifestyle in general age better than people who don't.
I'd say it's the way nature ordained it for one.
Secondly it's all about which part of the world one is from, genetics play a good role there as well.
Women go through a lot of changes through their lifecycle more than men.
Nature intended it to be a certain way for various reasons the most primary being procreation
This is not always the case but for some I will agree. I believe it has a lot to do with the amount of product that women use on their face that causes the aging process to progress a little faster.
Beyonce went downhill pretty fast. And compared to what I looked like in high school, I may as well have been hit by a truck. And look at Mickey Rourke some time. Now that's a guy that can't keep it together.
I think it's true; in my opinion a lot of guys become more attractive as they age (up to a certain point lol).. but of course that's a general statement because I know many women who have aged well. Weird how women still live longer though haha
Lol that only happens if you don't know how to take care of yourself
Good point here
nope, in general men biologically age better than women.
@alphadoggystyle source?
@alphadoggystyle nvm I found it. Due to more collagen. It's still somewhat preventable if you know how to take care of your skin.
I had been aware for a long time that those really attractive physical appearances we see do not last forever.
Many factors are involved that can cause looks to change over time.
My mom is 53 and she looks like she's my sister and I'm 15 😂😂😂
My dad is 64 and he looks like he's 40 something
Pics of mom
Good genetics and discipline always show forth and stand. :)
That depends what you eat and how often you exercise.
Also, if you take care of your face do massages, and keep your body nice and hourglass that is really important. I look a lot younger than I am, I never smoked, I can't drink alcohol and I stay out of the sun, and I make sure I have the humidifier, and my fiance thinks I am a lot younger than I really am, he found out and could not believe it. I take bio-identical hormones too it stops from getting grouchy that time of the month. Plus never take Botox that will make your face muscles atrophy. And keep your core tight and that will keep your figure and your face look soft and radiant from working out. And Love Jesus, that is so important.
men have thicker skin, which doesn't sag as easily, giving the illusion of youthfulness and better health, regardless of what's going on internally.
That's not true at all. In fact I think most women age pretty good especially if they workout/fit take care of there skin and themselves and don't have kids and remain happy so overall I'd say women are better
One female director from my country said :
Men are getting older much slower than women. They still looks awesome, but one day they just drop dead. I think it's true.
First off we don't stress ourselves out over wardrobe choices , diets , hair/women; some of us like to let the little boy out for the day or two , run around the house naked eat out the cereal box & drink OJ from the bottle you know the simple life.
Because women lose their fertility much earlier and beauty is mostly a reflection of a person's fertility.
Whoever said that is a dumbass lmaooo. Men look like cheese too haha.
I always get 19 for my age. Pshhh please. That also depends on how you take care of yourself.
People tell me I look younger then I am.
I keep my life simple and free of stress.
A lot of ladies get emotional and worked up quite easy.
I can only guess that takes a toll.
they don't, the women in the examples got heavy. thats the only difference.
There are genuine physiological differences between men and women notably in this case the collagen content and structure of men's vs women's skin
I don't know but one of my exs from college already looks like she's in her forties and she's two years younger than me.
I dunno if that's true or not, but I still look like I'm in my early 20's and hate it!
Many men tend to judge a woman on looks, that's why.
I don't know about this... cuz Linda Carter (Wonder Woman) is still bangin' hot!! While I'm at it..., Marie Osmond, too!
Correction.
White girls age terribly but look hottest during their teens and 20s
Spanish and Asians age so well
maybe because most girls wear makeup in their teens and never take it off at night.. lol
i think it is before woman wear a lot of make up and it damages their skin, but man dont put make up on
Dude serious? i think its the other way around! also i can find a lot off old famous dude that have aged badly
i've been told that i look about 20 even though i'm 28 so yeah
It doesn't matter. If you're an ugly young man you'll be an ugly old man.
No offence people, White* Women get em while theyre young.
You chose a bad example, Tom Cruise's face has been through a lot of surgeries.
Uhmm.. no.
Not true, lol.
what he is saying is true.
Men don't age better. They are allowed to age.
