One view I believe I understand your confusion. If you're attempting to use one 50 yro as your test case than you would have to compare how she looked in her prime vs how she looks when she gets old. Your anecdotal evidence isn't relevant. Also by your own admission, that would mean most women age worse than men.

One view "All" isn't a pre-requisite for truth. Most women age worse than men Which you have validated with your statement. Your anecdotal evidence would only have relevance if that woman looked better than she did when she was younger.

I don't think any person looks better at 50 than they did at 20. What can occur is that they age WELL. They looked good at 20 and at 50 they still look good, and aren't falling apart.

I know a man who was cute at 19 and remains good looking at 41. He doesn't look like he did at 19, which was boyish. He looks like a good-looking, 41-year-old man. He also looks better than "average."

Those are the cutoffs I use. And there's likely a lot of reasons that women might look more worn. I suspect the top one is being poor, No. 2, poor nutritional habits, No. 3, no exercise habits, No. 4, never physically recovering from childbirth, especially if a woman has several children in close proximity.

There's some truth to the "get married and give up," idea. But that happens with men too. I think less often, though, because men are out in the world and need to keep up appearances more often.

Poverty, however, poor nutrition and exercise habits, and never having examples of people who HAVE taken care of themselves throughout their lives, and who pass on that care TO you, are giant factors.

The question specifically ask why women age worse than men, you provided general opinions on why a women may be ugly. For instance you used being "poor" as a metric. I'm making the argument that a "poor" 21 yro looks better than a wealthy 40 yro.

@Screenwriter I think I see your confusion. That statement is in response to your original statement where you equated things like poverty to beauty. My question never even uses the word beauty, although you could use that as a metric. The argument is that a man's options increase as he goes from age 20 to 40, while a woman's options decreases as she goes from 24 - 40.

Largely depends on lifestyle. Women do age when they have babies. Boobies sag, stomach is messed up. But I think if a woman has her kids young, eats healthy, stays out of the sun, exercises, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't do ilegal or legal drugs and is careful with how much make up and hair dye she uses then she can prolong her youth. Women as we get older into our 30s naturally put on weight around our hips, butt, boobs and thighs so if a woman looks after herself she can still be attractive.

If you ever look at old pics of people from a few decades ago they be in their 20s but look 40 and that's hard living.

Because the things that make men and women attractive are different.

Men are attractive primary based on developmental skills and assets. Men are valued for resources and maturity.

Women are attractive primary based physical attributes and agreeability. Women are valued for their looks and sexual opportunities.

Meaning, women are found most attractive, as determined by billions of online dating metrics at the age of 20-23. While men are found to be the most attractive, as determined by those same metrics, to be most attractive at mid to late thirties.

It makes perfect sense if you look at it from the biological imperative of reproduction.

Women are at lower risk from childbirth for both themselves and their children, and can have more children over a longer period, when they're younger. And men have the means and ability to take care of those children as they grow older and accrue more resources and wealth.

The point of equality between male and female attractiveness seems to be somewhere around their 30s.

"Typically" is the key word here. I know a handful of women in their early 50's who look better than 95% of women in their early 30's. One in particular just turned 50 and lucky me, she's infatuated with me. And I with her. She has 3 kids, all grown. But she works out, cardio and strength. She eats healthy. And she's generally very disciplined about taking care of herself. I really respect / admire that. It's rare. Actually more attractive than a 33 year old. She has demonstrated the discipline and commitment over decades. The girl has focus!

No zipperhead. I'm saying at 50 she looks better than most women in their 30's have ever looked or will ever look. Some of those women probably could compete with her. But they won't. Because they lack the discipline and commitment to take care of themselves. They're already bulging and sagging at 33. How she looked in her 20's I'll never know. She's never walked me through her photo album. But it was certainly never "ugly".

Why do you constantly have such a problem with reading comprehension and basic logic? The question was "Why do women typically age worse than men?" My answer was not all of them do.
