for alt stuff (as a former alt person) it's hard to find affordable pieces. my advice is to just find basic cheap clothes that are of a dark color palette and focus on accessories, and invest in or ask your parents to buy a couple more expensive edgy pieces you want. you could also try depop or hot topic (though hot topic doesn't have many options but you could maybe find a couple nice items). y2k is much easier to shop for (used to love that style as well when it first popped off around 2020) and i see items that fit that aesthetic often nowadays on online stores i use. i don't know about the guy section but at least in the women's section on bershka there's a lot of these clothes (maybe that would mean you'd find stuff on your side of the page), asos (there's a decent amount) and yesstyle. you could try thrift stores or vinted. for y2k (this could go for alt as well) but i'd recommend making a list of specific clothing items you want and try to look for them on regular sites. the 2000s style cuts, are everywhere now. for the most out there and distinct clothes, you might need to go on depop. maybe people you know still have old clothes hanging around somewhere from that era. for both aesthetics you could also diy stuff.
