Is gothic fashion overtaking punk style in popularity today?

I've noticed that Gothic fashion seems to be everywhere lately, from social media to music festivals. Do you think it's becoming more popular than Punk fashion, or do they simply appeal to different personalities? What style do you personally prefer and why?

It never really went away. I know a woman, just turned 70, who has been goth for almost her entire life. She was goth before the term 'goth' was even a thing.

I'd be fine with goth if it didn't involve stupid Frankenstein boots. Use stilettos instead and that's an excellent look.

Goth was already in vogue with the punk generation 45 years ago.

Gothic is definitely having a big moment right now, especially online and at festivals, so it can feel more visible than punk. But they speak to slightly different energies: goth leans dramatic, romantic, moody; punk is raw, political, rebellious. I personally gravitate a bit more to goth because it mixes darkness with elegance and theatrics, which is super fun for styling outfits and makeup 😈🖤
