Is 5'8" considered tall for an American woman?

I am 5 feet 8 inches tall. Most of my friends are between 4 feet 11 inches up to about 5 feet 6 inches. They say that I am extremely tall. I don't think I am so tall that I stand out so much. I would think that would be like women who are 5 feet 11 inches and above. What do you think?

It's fairly tall but not unusually or extremely so. It's the statistical equivalent of a man being 6'1".

5'4" is the average. But the minimum for fashion models is 5'9".

I'm 6'2". My tallest girlfriend was 5'7". The shortest was 5'1". My wife is 5'5".

In the U. S., there are over 4.7 million women over 5'8", so don't worry. You are certainly not a freak.

I would say that you are on the higher end of normal. Not extremely tall like they say. LOL I was in a restaurant where the hostess was 6'2". People asked her so often how tall she was, that she had a badge made that said "6 feet 2 inches", to answer peoples' question ahead of time.

You’re right not to see yourself as “extremely” tall. In the U. S., the average woman is around 5'4", so at 5'8" you’re definitely taller than average, but not in the super-tall, head-turning range.

You’d usually be seen as simply tall or “model tall,” not unusually tall like 5'11"+. Your friends are just making you the glamazon of the group 😄

If i recall correctly, 5’4” is the average height of women in the US. So 5’8” would indeed be considered tall. The average man is 5’10”. So you’re closer in height to the average man than the average woman.

I have been following that case very closely and i think he’s way off base. I think anyone who thinks she should get anything less than first degree murder and life in prison is dumb or corrupt.
We need to take protecting and unfortunately avenging children more seriously in this country. Cases like that really stress me out.

I had to block MSC because his TDS is too severe. He probably can’t see the question.
I’m not wholly against using mental disease or defect to mitigate punishment in some cases. However, Clancy’s lawyer failed to prove that she had the kind of psychotic break necessary to let her off the hook for murdering children. I don’t think i would even let her off the hook if she had documented psychotic breaks. Not for killing kids. That just shouldn’t be tolerated at all, anywhere, ever.

I think you're pretty tall for a female. You obviously do get girls over 6' but they are a minority. In heels you're probably taller then half of US males?

Yes 5'6 is also only one inch shorter than average male height like I am almost or closet to average male height. and you can be a model if you are really good
