I decided to wear bright colors today and I got more looks than usual. I think that what you wear tell a lot about you. Maybe because of the colors, I seemed more welcoming? The compliments stood out to me today because they either had to go out their way or couldn't resist saying it. I am biased because im going off how much effort it would take me to give someone a compliment in the way they did it. I would not stop someone walking in the middle of the street, but someone did. Not only was the child and mother smiling at me as I was walking up but I had my headphones in and couldn't completely hear her the first time so the little girl repeated what she said and I could still hear her talking about my outfit as I walked away. I even got an employee discount from a store after he told me he liked my outfit. I think people are nicer to you when you don't blend in with the black and white in this world.
Do bright colors make people more likely to compliment you?
You’re totally onto something. Bright colors draw the eye, signal confidence and warmth, and make you seem more approachable, so people feel freer to compliment you. Neutrals can blend into the background, but a bold outfit kind of gives others “permission” to engage. That mom, child, and employee all reacted to the energy you were projecting. Keep playing with color 🌈
I think you’re more likely to stand out, wearing bright colors. And if the outfit is also nice then you’re more likely to get compliments. Sometimes it’s not even the bright colors but just you having your own unique style that people appreciate.
