Chivalry, in this sense, is traced back to the medieval times where knights were depicted as loyal and kind towards the women they liked/loved. So acting chivalrous is just a good method of differentiating yourself from nice and casual men and hinting your romantic intentions. Your post felt passive aggressive, but you’re so right that us women can easily adapt norms after our own preferences and take advantage of men being silenced because speaking up would make them sexist. @naktergale Not passive aggressive, but definitely snarky. And for good reason... men today are frustrated with the entitled and hypocritical attitudes of a lot of modern women. There is still a sense among many that make them feel entitled to men still fulfilling traditional male gender roles while the same women see and traditional female gender roles as sexist and misogynistic.

For example, here in the US men are still largely expected pay for first dates, and many women are very critical of men who don't. And those same women are often the ones who talk about how oppressed they are by the patriarchy. It's frustrating to see them blame men for what they define as patriarchy when they themselves are enthusiastically perpetuating it. Sounds to me like more of a matriarchy sometimes.

Most men and women today are bad. People of our generation do not know how to be in a relationship I do not know what is good for them. Political feminism had not been good for women or men alike. All women like chivalry. All women like romance to some extent. All women like real men, unless lesbians of course.

Both men and women are hypocritical and want things for their benefit. This is not exclusive to women. Men have it the same way. The only difference is men have had their ways for centuries. Now the tables have turned in favour of women thanks to modern feminism. As with anything human, we never do anything balanced. Things were heavily balanced in men's favour 100 years ago. Now the tables have turned, and it is slightly favoured towards women. It's still not balanced. And I doubt it will be. We will probably go forth and back in favour of men and women over Andover, Andover again without ever achieving the perfect balance.

@Dawty Thanks for your answer. I agree with most of what you wrote. But I disagree about it never being balanced. It will never be equal, because that is not possible, but there is no reason it can't be fair and balanced. Yes, things were more favorable for men in the past, and things are definitely more favorable for women today, but the notion that today's women should have an advantage over men because of what happened in the past is absurd and wrong. Today's women are entitled and victim minded and that hurts both men and women.

I agree but will point out that some of these are appropriate for flirting and others are more appropriate for relationships, like running fingers through hair that would probably scare me if someone just walked up to me and started doing that, but I love it in a relationship.
