Is patting someone on the shoulder a sign of attraction?

Someone was teasing me at work and my crush laughed and patted me on the shoulder. He is kind if shy and someone told me shy guys will pat you on the back or shoulder because they are too shy to touch you any other way at first. Is this true?

It could be I mean its a touch and for what it's worth, if he didn't care or anything he wouldn't of touched you at all.
