Sounds like beta male behavior and his only way Is taunting because he's a child not a real man. You also mentioned that he's cocky which indicates that he has a lack of something and had to compensate with a tough guy act, but in fact he's like a little girl wearing panties on the inside. If you want to see him squirm go strike up a conversion with a better looking man surrounded by his buddies and watch the cocky player turn into a creampuff.
