Do guys pretend to be players when they are not?

There has been one or two guys I've come across that make me wonder this because they are inconsistent. I can't tell if he is a nice guy but wants to seem like a player, or if he is a player posing as a nice guy. Do guys ever hide being nice because they feel 'nice guys finish last'? Honestly? Especially early in things when its still in that "does she/he like me too" stage? And does this change if the girl is a girl that appears to get a lot of attention from men?

To me, it sounds like typecasting. Here's your third choice: He's charming/charismatic?...which kinda fits into both categories. So sometimes, it's really hard to tell.

Some guys can do or say all sorts of things if they know how to attract/talk to women or people in general. Some have good intentions and some...not so good. But the question you have to ask yourself: Dig deep through the nice/charming/charismatic layer and see if you trust him and what his intentions really are. Is he a good man?

Being just a 'nice guy' gets you friend-zoned. There's no challenge for the girl. But what's your definition of nice? You can still be confident/assertive/manly/bratty/seductive tease but still be nice.

He is friendly and respectful - most the time. He has good guy qualities like being punctual, always showing he is appreciative of little things, he is responsible, affectionate, understanding and considerate...things like that. He's totally sweet but sometimes the stories he tells make him seem like a real jerk. but maybe he thinks its cool...who knows. He is almost nerdy sometimes, but I like it better than the badass cocky arrogance crap. Can't tell what is real and what isnt.

hmm...well he sounds like a man to me! He understands people and women. Like George Clooney for example. You found good qualities in him and he told you crazy stories about his past. So you know the good and bad sides. You can't really pretend to be a player if you're not. Maybe he's a former ladies' man who's ready to change for the better. Maybe he likes telling crazy stories of his past. Maybe he sounds too good to be true! Why don't you just ask him to see what his true intentions are.

How can he make you believe that's the case without those women present?

Does he speak of them?

i think they do - they tried to act cool and act like a players and had a lot of sex LOL

i mean most guys I have met they always claimed how sporty they are- they play football ruby whatever - but turns out when you actually became a couple with them - you found that even bent down to pick up something he has some problems with that - they were just bluffing!

Yeh sometimes they pretend to be bad to make a change cause believe it or not we really need it:D But we don't pretend like we are players o_O lol we just pretend to be bad xD

Yes or at least I do. In my experience nice guys finish last but so you sometimes need to change your approach to reap the rewards
