Why are so many hot guys single?

Question

I have a few guy friends who are really handsome and they know it because girls are always checking them out and flirting with them. I used to assume that if a guy was really hot he would probably be taken but I've learned that it's usually not true. 

For example one of my friends is like model material hot and he's been single for over a year and I don't think he's a player or anything like that because he doesn't really hit on girls that much and is still scared to approach girls that he likes. I told him that most girls would probably say yes if he asked them out on a date and they were single but he doesn't believe me. 

It seems like average looking guys have more balls when it comes to approaching women than above average guys do?

Probably because they generally want to be as I find guys generally only want a relationship when they don't have many desirable sexual opportunities. Being single seems to be the ideal for most guys and I imagine hot guys generally have desired sexual lifestyle of many attractive gals. There is also likely an extremely miniscule minority of hot guys that are single without taken sexual opportunities because of low self-esteem/confidence.

In my experience all the hot guys I know are single because they enjoy playing the field and casually sleeping around.

there are some guys that would rather go their own way (MGTOW) and not bother with relationships and girls.
they are often shamed for it by people accusing them of being gay or selfish or worse cases hates women just for wanting to make money and life happly.

it's okay if you don't understand it. I don't think many girls can.

Lack of confidence can hurt even the most attractive of men. Unless you have girls who ask out guys some of them will have very few partners. Others are single because they know that they are in demand and can get what the benefits of a relationship without actually being in one

i will try to be as laconic as possible. whores, sluts, golddiggers, "size queens" (loose grand canyon pussies), insecurities, bad/traumatic childhood, being lost in their fears and preconceived ideas of what women are/want, misogyny, gynophobia, lack of confidence, depression, bipolar syndrome, lacking social skills/ social circle, self shaming/embarassment for weird fetishes/desires, religious beliefs, asexuality, homosexuality, lack of interest for the female gender, bad past experiences and or first experience. these are some of the reasons i thought.

I would consider myself one such guy. I am really very attractive compared to most guys and have no trouble flirting with girls -i find it easy to make them want me but somehow i am still scared of actually getting a girlfriend because i think i'm scared that she won't actually like me then, which i think is because most girls seem to view me as above average and i feel like i might disappoint somehow, call it self doubt or very high personal standards for myself which i don't think i meet

your friend doesn't approach girls that's why he's single. it doens't matter how good looking he is. he won't be approached. also he needs some charm. girls will cut him a lot of slack if he's hot, but if he's totally incompetent, he's still going to be unsuccessful.

lots of men regardless of looks have low self-esteem, because men rarely get approached or complimented

WE hot guys don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so we don't respond often to come-ons. We are afraid girls will be too seriously committed to us and will be really disappointed if we are just being friendly.

Fact that they're not in official relation does not mean they are not havig a lot of sex. They could be having multiple women in rotation and have no reason to commit. Or maybe they are gay or insanely picky.

Relationships are hard work and time consuming
I enjoy my freedom
Not having to take into account what your partner wants
The fear of a painful breakup
Haven't found that person I can truly be myself with yet

About guys. Anyone can have lack of confidence despite looks. Thereby too scared to approach.
About girls. I've heard girls talking about someone being "out of their league" thereby not even worth trying to approach.
