Why do girls a lot of times laugh a little when a guy compliments them on their appearance?

I have noticed from just spectating guys on YouTube "picking up" girls and also in real life when I am trying to start a conversation and talk to my crush, when I compliment them, even like on a piece of clothing, a lot of times that will sort of break the ice and they will go from completely serious and indifferent to laughing/blushing.

And "you don't gotta boyfriend right?" is not seeing if she is single.

“You look really cute today. Is that a new hairstyle?” is a complement.

And "Hey, this is personal, but do you have a boyfriend? If you do, my heart’s just going to shatter into a million pieces right now!" Is asking if she is single

For me, if I laugh or chuckle at a compliment, it's like a positive but bashful response. It's a way of saying: I'm flattered, that made me happy, but it also created feelings in me that I don't know how to release so I am going to laugh.

Some girls are really insecure so they don't think so and the blushing is when they are embarrassed or just a little nervous. Some people also laugh when they are nervous too. I think that its mostly insecurity.

because it's an awkward moment when you guys think you have complimented us (but you really didn't). we laugh as a nice gesture instead of telling you off.

We won't tell you off. Most guys are just hopeless at this stuff. Most girls understand this and so not to make the situation any more awkward we smile, give a little giggle. It kills any further conversation there. We don't need to tell you off if you didn't intentionally insult us.

Some girls don't take compliments too well and deside to laugh it off or they don't believe the compliment or they could just be embarrassed about being complimented. There are many reasons why girls giggle when they are complimented.
