Why do girls mess with guys emotions?

Why do girls flirt really heavily, then go cold. Then repeat the cycle when you try be more than friends.. But flirt again when you try and move on?

Flirting is just in some peoples nature. It doesn't always mean something. What means something is their intentions. If they are not interested in anything beyond platonic, then that is just how it is. Regardless of flirty behavior.

It's not the nicest or prettiest thing but us girls are known to do it. It's almost like guys and we aren't totally interested or disinterested, but again like guys if it's fun we go again

I'm sure it is. It happens to me with guys all the time. They flirt for a month or so I blow them off we are friends for a while then they flirt hard. I reconsider and then it's a toss up to what happens next. Unfortunately I do it to guys too. Such a viscious fun cycle. It's kind of like shaking the tree to see if anything falls...
