I know the difference between big and curvy. I study fashion so I know about body shapes and proportions. However, these days people seem to have different definitions for the term curvy. Like you said, a curvy person is a true hourglass figure but a lot of bigger girls call themselves curvy because it makes them feel better. Whatever floats their boat. But you're right about younger guys, they definitely go with the norm. They are very easily influenced by the media and their peers
You have no idea how much I like you for knowing my pain with the terminology!!! It is human nature to be attracted to what we are use to. It is comfortable and safe. Especially in the younger ages when all you care about is fitting in. It only makes sense that when you are surrounded by adolescent girls that have not yet developed a grown-women's body, you think that is the ideal and what you should be looking for. Honestly though, I think it is mostly fueled by the biological and fertility aspects.
Just thought of another point:Like i mentioned I am a true and dramatic hourglass. I have almost always had curves, even back in middle school before my breasts were done growing, I was a D Cup. I was considered fat in high school because of it, even though I wasn't. (took me looking back at photos to realize I wasn't as well) It took until I was about 24 years old for guys my own age to became attracted to my body. Before that it was only much much older men from whom I received attention.
